I have injected both, they each have pros and cons. The Juvederm comes in an Ultra and UltraPlus (thinner vs thicker). I like using the thinner in lips to avoid lumps and to make the lips feel very soft. I like the thicker in places that need a lot of material...it seems to hold its shape better when it is injected a little deeper. I like Restylane for under the eyes, ie the tear troughs. It seems to cause a little less swelling. Restylane tubes are bigger, ie 1cc vs 0.8 cc, but they have a little less HA per cc than Juvderm. Cost is about the same. The bottom line, unless you have tried both and have a very strong preferance, go with whatever your doctor recommends. Your doctor's expertise and comfort with the product outweighs the very minor differences. Michael Sinclair, MD www.epilution.com

Alli is the same medication as Xenical (aka Orlistat). Both block fat absorption. If you don't have a lot of fat in your diet, neither will do much of anything. If you do have a lot of fat in your diet, you will likely have greasy stools, liquid expelled from your anus while passing gas, nausea and bloating. So... do you think it is worth it? NOT ME!

When it gets right down to the nitty gritty, the results of the treatment will be almost entirely dependent on the person (and the equipment) that is treating you. Regulations regarding med spas can be drastically different from state to state. In Canada, ANYONE can buy a laser and use it with no training at all. There is no easy short cut to finding a good place to have your work done. You will have to do your home work. That means making a site visit, talking to the person who will be treating you, ask questions, look at THEIR before and after pictures (not the pics provided by the companies that sell lasers fillers and Botox), check referrals, etc. Michael Sinclair, MD
Dear Momdon, Try to relax. First, Perlane can be used in the lips. It is not my favorite filler for lips, but it can work well. If your doc put in too much Perlane, don't panic! It is fairly easy to dissovle Perlane with Hyaluronidase. You may want to wait a few days and see if the swelling goes down. Michael Sinclair, MD www.epilution.com

The comment from Francineparent is completely wrong. Please ignore everything she said. To answer your question, the bruising will resolve over a few days to a few weeks. The product is intended to cause some water absorbtion but that seems to smooth out after a few days to a few weeks. If you have a lot of bruising, the blood associated with that bruising will cause additional swelling which will also resolve within a few weeks. Some patients feel that Arnica, Bromelain Pineapple Extract and Ethanol Free Witch Hazel, all available over the counter, help make brusing go away more quickly.
