Technically, you are not required to tip anyone unless you feel the experience has exceeded your expectations. However, since we know that employed stylists give a good chunk of their money to the salon, it has become customary to leave a discretionary tip (approx 12%–20%) at salons to help supplement their income.

There is one exception in the tipping world though. Since the full payment from your visit goes to the owner, you do not have to tip them if they are the one who provided your service

I love the work my hair stylist does even though I only go 2-3 times a year .. she does a partial highlight ( I wear from ears down my natural off black)she does a hair cut & blow dry it cost me 95.00 which I think is reasonable for long hair..I tip her 20.00 shes worth it I think
