From what I understand about Botox, if you already have lines/wrinkles, they will fade with time once you are no longer able to make the expression that caused the lines/wrinkles in the first place. If you can still lift your eyebrows and make your forehead wrinkle up, then you probably need to go back in for a touch up. If you can't wrinkle your forehead any longer, then the lines that you still see should get better in time. I was also told that you have to wait 21 days for your full result. Hope this helps.
I've heard so much conflicting information regarding Fraxel Restore and fillers, such as Restylane. I know it's okay to have botox while having a series of Fraxel treatments done, but I heard that the fraxel laser will breakdown fillers such as Restylane. The doctor I was using for laser treatments said he wouldn't treat anyone that had fillers in the last 3 months. I'm going to be finishing out my series of treatments with another doctor and his nurse told me it would be fine for me to have Restylane done while I'm having Fraxel done. She said they treat people with both all the time. She said I could come in either a few days before my treatment or a few days afterwards as long as I didn't have any swelling. Can one of the Docs here tell me if you treat your patients with both at the same time? Thanks Again!
Hi, I have a question....if someone had two treatments with Palomar's StarLux Laser-the that is similiar to Fraxel's Restore laser and then they went to a different doctor that had a Fraxel Restore Laser for the last two treatments-would that be okay? Could you expect the same results? The first two treatments with the Palomar Laser were 3-4 weeks apart and then the patient will go in and be treated with the Fraxel Restore laser 4 weeks after he last teatment with the Palomar Laser and follow that treatment with a fourth treatment 4 weeks later. I'm wondering if you could expect the same results since what both of these lasers do is suppose to be similiar. Thanks, LSanders
Hi Dr. P, You said that with Fraxel Restore 8 passes are usually made. Do you count back and forth as one pass? That sounds like a lot. My doc said she did 4 passes the first time and 5 passes the second time. I'm not sure if she was counting back and forth as one complete pass. I can tell you that it took an hour and a half to do my face and my neck. Thanks Again, Lacy
Dr. Persky and Dr. Weiner, I have a couple of questions, but I also want to vent a bit of frustration. I just had my second restore treatment 2 days ago. On my first treatment my doctor said she put the laser on the highest setting because I tolerated it well and she did 4 passes. By the time I got home the burning was gone, the swelling and redness lasted a few days, nothing too bad. 3 weeks later I went in for the second treatment, she used the same settings, and made 5 passes on my face. That was fine with me because I want the best results possible and I don't mind some pain and being uncomfortable. By that afternoon, my face was hurting it absolutely felt like it was on fire. My face and neck were pretty swollen, I had fever and I was just basically miserable. I stood in front of a fan most of the afternoon just to get some relief. So I finally called the doctors office before they closed and asked them to call me in something for pain. I explained to office manager what my symptoms were and she said the doctor told me that she worked you over and "why did you have 5 passes?" and she went on to tell me how she only had 3 passes each time she had it done. She got my pharmacy information and told me the nurse might call me back. The nurse did call me back and I told the whole story again and she had me hold on while she talked to the doctor about it. They asked if I had taken anything and I told them I had been taking ibuprofen and they told me not to take anything with ibuprofen in it, that it would lessen the results of the Fraxel treatment. I took Ibuprofen after the first treatment because no one told me this. Finally the doctor said that she doesn't give any pain medicine for this procedure, for me to take tylenol and she called me in some gel to put on my face and neck that I hoped would give me some relief, but it didn't. It was called Bionect. I do understand not giving medication for a procedure as a general rule, but I don't understand a doctor deciding that all patients are the same with the same reactions. The plastic surgeon that I normally go gives his patients a pain pill before having fraxel restore done and a prescription afterwards in case they need it. After any procedure or surgery he performs, he calls his patients "personally" that evening to make sure they are okay. He even called me after I had restylane done to make sure I was okay. He always listens to his patients and shows concern. The only reason I didn't use him for the fraxel is he charges $1000.00 per treatment for the face and $1000.00 per treatment for the neck! 4 treatments of the face and neck would've been $8000.00!! The doctor I'm going to is charging me $3600.00 for 4 treatments of the face and neck. Finally, my questions are, is that true about the ibuprofen? And I've read were you have both said to use a lot of moisturizer...my Doctor says I can only use oil free moisturizer. I have very dry skin and I've nevr had acne or break outs. I need a heavy moisturizer. Do I have to use oil free products? Thanks so much!
