I had 3 Fraxel treatments a couple years ago for my Melasma. Since then I've developed larger brown pigmentation that makes me look like I have dark makeup on all the time! I used to have nice skin with a few pigmentation spots. I don't sunbath and use sunscreen religiously, the only thing Fraxel did was tighten the skin a tiny bit and spread the melasma out over the whole face instead of in spots! It wasn't a bad experience but I'm now faced with seeking more laser treatments to get rid of all the hyperpigmentation. I wouldn't recommend it if your skin is light and very sensitive to UV and hormonal changes, or if you have freckled in the past. I can't stay out of the sun, just stepping out the door to the car does it, even with sunscreen slathered on! :(
