Juvederm Ultra Plus XC

The same thing happened to me, but it doesn't sound like either of your docs properly addressed what happened. I have been using filler in my upper cheeks for a number of years, and after the swelling from the Selphyl in my under eye area (which is considerable) the Juvederm in my cheeks migrated, causing the "dents". When you push on your face and it dents, that isn't swelling, its an indication that there is filler where you are pushing. My doc injected a little filler back into the area and looks fine now. Also, the huge amount of swelling caused by Selphyl injections is not caused by the area being "aggravated" - Selphyl is injected similar to fat injections in that the treatment area is overfilled to begin with because a large amount of the filler will be reabsorbed by the body. Overfilling results in alot of swelling, but it subsides in about a week and then doesn't come back or show improved fullness until the next month or so when the stem cell regeneration takes place.
I am thrilled I got Selphyl and will probably go in for a 2nd treatment to greater improve the results. Downside is that it can cause filler in the surrounding area to migrate, and it takes longer to recover than the docs tell you....you look like hell for at least 3-4 days post treatment!!!

Still pretty much the same as much December update. I just just begun re using it around my eyes, so don't know yet if there will be improvement. The most frustrating thing is that it misfires alot if you are not extremely careful, but its risk free to try it! Buy one and use it for 60 days - you can return if you are not happy!!

Britt, though I'm not opposed to the idea of surgery when I'm older, I've known many people who have had surgery and then report that a mere 5 yrs later they are sagging again. The reality is, even with surgery a person has to use filler to avoid sagging. Most middle aged people need at least 5 syringes per year to keep up!
I'm glad that I've chosen the route I have, which is to invest money in improving the structure of the skin so to speak, instead of just pulling it up. All of the laser, microcurrent, cosmeceutical skin care and even the filler injections have improved my collagen and elastin greatly. I'm helping my body help itself - as opposed to surgery which does nothing to improve the quality of the skin.

Britt, I'm an aesthetician and a laser tech myself, so I already know about how certain treatments affect the dermis/epidermis. Unless someone is getting some kind of deep phenol peel or something, peels will not affect fillers as long as the patient waits 2-4 weeks after the filler is put in place. RF treatments can affect filler, and that is why people should be aware that there might be some fat/volume loss in their fact post treatment and to hold off until they are done with the laser treatments to do the filler if they want to get the biggest bang for the buck.
