Actually, I have met MANY aesthetic doctors who like to boast that the patients others screw up end up coming to them to be fixed. It seems to me that many of these doctors WANT to meet people like you who posted here. I wonder if the issue here is the same one I just had - a message to me from a RealSelf poster went to my backup email box and got lost with the hundreds of mass-emails I receive in that box. It took me 10 days to send out a response. Certainly, a lot of doctors also are seeing a major downturn in their volume of treatments, so they should be eager to take calls from people like you, Hudson and Ivana. Keep calling more offices, and you will find some nice helpful doctors eventually.
Hi Tomato. Actually peri-follicular erythema (red dots around the hair shaft on the skin surface) is extremely common, as is folliculitis. Some people always get it and need to be careful to apply the right moisturizer OFTEN post-treatment. But some are victims of under-trained operators (most common issue, especially with the tricky head on the Syneron products - they have 2 metal bars that will leave minor burn if not squished in full contact with skin during the firing of each pulse). Or it happens because the handpiece tip and/or the gel bottle are breeding grounds for bacteria. Make sure operator wears gloves, and gel bottle looks nice and new, and watch them sanitize the tip of the laser head before zapping you. The gel may have an ingredient your skin does not like, especially if they are using clear aloe vera gel instead of ultrasound gel. In Denver, Derm Joel Cohen is very well-educated and talented, so he can help you erase your problem.

Hi JLB17. I have the non-CO2 Pixel and would never use the CO2 - too risky. However, there is a company in Princeton NJ near you that makes a very elegant version called ECO2, and they have a superstar derm user near princeton...call Lutronic Lasers if you ever need another treatment. But for fixing, consider this: You will heal a lot slower than you would think - that is a very common source of stress post-treatment. Be patient. Use a gentle soothing moisturizer or cover-up product like Avene Spring Water GEL or Lycogel hysdrating foundation. I recommend staying away from aggressive hydroquinone creams. I can find you some fix-it follow-up treatment providers I know in Jersey, even though i live in Ohio.

Hey Ron, in the future for cystic acne there is a simpler, cheaper way to get more results with no downtime, and it is very popular in Indonesia and Korea among sensitive skin populations. JetPeel skin rejuvenation - providers can be referred by the folks at Benev dot com in Mission Viejo and OnyxMedical dot com in Northern Cali. I own Pixel and JetPeel and prefer the elegance of JetPeel. $125/treatment x 4 sessions
Sorry to hear of that problem. It is common among the bottom 60% of operators and among people who ask for so many body parts to be treated per session. When too many areas are treated per visit, inconsistent heat is delivered (much hotter and uncontrolled in 2nd half of treatment), causing side effects, and operators make mental errors during long treatments. Thumb rule for future recipients of treatment: tell the operator you do not want any treatment lasting more than 20 minutes. People make mistakes in the 30th and 40th and 50th minutes of treatments, and the lasers become less consistent. For post-treatment hyperpigmentation, many offices knee-jerk give out aggressive hydroquinone, which is irritating and considered toxic to the liver in many countries. Easier solution (that costs $$): find a local med spa or day spa with a skin care provider who has more than 10 years of experience, and they will likely give you a fix-it plan consisting of many TREATMENTS, not at-home creams. Microderm (not aggressive), JetPeel, light chemical peel, light IPL photorejuvenations, and LED skin rejuvenation treatments are useful. Especially a GOOD L.E.D. make sure you commit to 8-10 visits and be patient...the spots will fade but may take 6-12 months with the help of a good esthetician.
