Glad to hear that things are getting better. Ideally, btw, Artefill is usually done over *two* sessions...to avoid over-filling. Unless you were on medication that inhibits collagen synthesis (e.g., a corticosteroid like Prednisone), you should get a 1:1 replacement of the Artefill's collagen with your own collagen. Perhaps your doc didn't use enough or didn't put it in the right place. Still, better than too much. For most patients, though, a single 0.8cc syringe ought to be plenty for under the eyes along the tear troughs.

Definitely give it some time before doing anything else in that area.

Sorry to hear of your experience but I'm glad you're letting people know about it. This Dr. Keshwani, however, is trained in Family Practice... not Dermatology, Facial Plastic Surgery, Plastic Surgery or Oculoplastics.

Because of the permanent nature of Artefill (the PMMA microspheres are permanent), I think it's important that patients seek treatment only from "core trained" physicians (i.e., the four specialties I listed above) and not family docs.

I hope you continue to heal and with luck you may end up looking just fine. Thanks for sharing your experience.

The doctor didn't tell you it was a permanent filler? That's, of course, illegal (goes to informed consent). What did he tell you that you were getting?

I like Juvéderm Ultra for lips. It's one of the safest and most long-lasting of the fillers available for the lips. Depending on the patient, 6 to 8 months is a reasonable duration of effect to expect. I know the brochure will tell you that it lasts up to a year. That's true, but it's the rare patient who gets that, IMHO. All the best, --DCP

Sometimes a second opinion helps. It may serve simply to reassure you that everything is likely to be okay, or the other surgeon may be able to advise you about how/whether to fix what you're seeing. Getting a second opinion doesn't mean you can't go back to your original surgeon and it doesn't commit you to doing anything with the second surgeon. Hope this helps, --DCP
