Some people seem to be a lot more resistant to painkillers than others. I know someone who has to take four times the normal amount to affect her.

Update: I'm four weeks post op tomorrow, and I of course still have significant swelling, although an ultrasound treatment to the area really helped. I'm probably going to go in a couple of times a week for a bit until the swelling gets a bit more under control. I understand that the reason the swelling takes so long to go away is that the procedure disrupts or destroys some of the lymphatic vessels and pathways, and those take awhile to regenerate. I can't wait to see what I look like in 3-5 more months!

Yes, significant swelling is perfectly normal, and it will most likely get better in time. Patience is the key.

Agreed. Most people are going to have significant swelling for at least 1-2 months, and most people don't see swelling entirely resolve for 4-6 months or more. This unfortunately requires a lot of patience, and 2 weeks post op is way too early to judge anything. I'm in my third week and I look worse now than I did weeks 1 and 2. I have good days and bad days, but I can tell it's mostly the swelling, because 1) it looks almost normal first thing in the morning, and 2) If I spend a significant amount of time lying down during the day, things look much better. That gravity-dependent swelling is going to be an issue for awhile post-op for most people.

Well hopefully, things turned out better for you eventually. I've heard from a number of others that many people go through an "ugly phase" post lipo while a lot of the swelling is still present and going down. Some even said the worst point was between weeks 4 and 8 post-op, but then things got significantly better. Most doctors say that you won't see final results for 4-6 months or more.
