I spent about $1200 or $1600 ($400/each) on a few treatments for my cankles. Dang chiropractor office. I finally went to a lipo plastic surgeon, Dr. Barnes, who advertises on those Zerona videos we see. he can do both Zerona and surgery lipo. He told me zerona would not work on ankles (I found out the expensive way). The lipo I did cost less ($2600)than the full Zerona treatment. Atleast I have slim ankles now... I think the laser might only work on belly fat if at all.
I don't suggest sun exposure because, to me, it isn't enough UVB and not worth exposing myself that much to skin cancer just to maybe get any results. The laser is at a specific 308-311nm which is the only part of light spectrum that really is effective at stimulating melanin production. Protopic may halt spreading of vitiligo but to repigment, you need to expose to light. Even though I use Elidel/Protopic, it has a blackbox cancer warning and so does being in the sun. I'm assuming the hair removal hypopigmentation is because the melanocyte is dead. so you would need melanin from surrounding areas if there is a chance of repigmentation at all. The XTRAC UVB laser at St. Jude Medical center worked when all else fail for me.
Call the manufacturer that makes the laser, Photomedex and ask them for provider. I picked a dermatologist at a medical group so I got my PPO insurance to cover it for vitiligo.
In regards to the scar stretching due to augmentation, you need to put paper tape on that scar to hold that area from stretching until your skin/breasts settle out.
Hi, I genetically have vitiligo and searched for 5 years for a derm that wasn't ignorant about it. I had vit on the lower half of my face on my back and chest, and my dad's vitiligo progressed over his entire body. I was able to treat it 99% with the extrac laser at St. Jude Medical Ctr. and a UVB lamp that I bought from ebay from Israel. Skin pigment comes from your hair follicle and now that that it has been overly killed off you would need melanin from surrounding areas. My friend told me she got some minor white spots that's why I never did it knowing my condition. If you want my help, I can give you more details to help you fix it as much as possible. Let me know.
