I would say that it is just from the trauma of the surgery. I am still swollen at 9 wks post op but it is going down slowly. Most of my swelling is from the belly button down. I think it will take me about another 2-3 months for the majority of the swelling to go down. I'm using the scarring sheets and I think that helps to reduce the swelling some but not as fast as I would like it to. I probably haven't answered your question but I, too, am still swollen. Patience is a virtue when it comes to this surgery!!!

I think a panniculectomy would be better. I know you go through enough with your fibromyalgia so I wouldn't want you to risk anymore pain or discomfort.

I'm also 60. I'm not sure if age has anything to do with it but I think it does. I'm in very good health and stay very active. I'm sure six months from now I'll be happy but the past two months have not necessarily been pleasant. First I think I didn't take enough time off of work for my recovery. I went back full time after 2-1/2 weeks but I sure could have used more. I was just not prepared for the excessive tightness which lasted about 6 weeks and still some now at 8 wks post op but getting better. My other issue is my EXTREME skin sensitivity. I cannot stand anything touching my skin if it is not tight but I have been working on weaning myself from wearing them. I stopped wearing abdominal garments except for camis and wear just control panties. I know the nerves are still healing but it is really, really getting on my nerves and wearing me down. Very tired as my body continues to heal. It is MAJOR surgery. You may do just great and I hope you do. Are you having a full TT or just excision of excess skin?
