In my case it was a P.A. who did the proceedure and it happened to be the day that she was leaving on "medical leave." The Dermatologist had no idea what happened to me until I made another appointment and he saw it. He really is doing his best to repair the damage that his P.A. put there. I am undergoing CO2 laser next week and I hope to god that it works. I have seen pictures on this site of IPL burns and I am definitly becoming an advocate to have anyone but a PHYSICIAN stop doing this proceedure. People are suffering and it is for no other reason than economics.

I totally sympothize with you. I am in the same boat as far as the burns are concerned. Mine are not quite as severe, but any marks/burns on someones face just sucks. My doctor is planning on doing a "laser resurfacing" on Friday, July 17th. I really hate the thought of another lazer going near my face ever again, but I'm desperate to look "normal" again. Like everyone, I did IPL to look better not to look worse. The doctor told me that it was going to hurt (oh, great), but I can't imagine how much worse that it can hurt than the "burns" that were put there by the first laser. And, at this point, I am willing to hurt if it means I will look "normal" again. I will let you know if it works. I will have many questions before I do it and wish that I had asked more questions the first time around. Wish me luck.

I had IPL done on my face 15 days ago. I have severe burns and went back to the doctor yesterday. The look on his face and the fact that he said "why did she turn it up so high," said it all. He wants me to come back in three weeks and he will do "laser resurfacing free of charge." Needless to say, I am scared to death. I went in with a minor problem (a rash) and came out with a huge problem (scars). I would love it if these marks were off of my face, but I'm not sure what to do. Should I accept the offer or is it just wishful thinking that it will be all better after that? My husband is coming home from the middle east in six weeks after being gone for a year and I wanted to look nice. Boy did that backfire. Will the laser resurfacing work/help? Any Advice?

I think that is good advice considering when I called the day after the ipl (with severe swelling and blisters), the woman at the office sounded like I was annoying her. I realize that doctors are very busy, but they should make sure there office staff is treating patients kindly, especially when they are experiencing complications.

I am right there with you! The literature that I read sounded like it was the easiest, harmless, and most wonderful proceedure anyone could have done to remove unwanted facial blemishes, brown spots, etc. I had mine done four days ago and swelled up like a blow fish for three days and have wide scrape looking marks on my cheeks and chin areas. I currently look like a freak of nature and was actually mostly pretty before this! I am hoping that no scars will be left behind and that I can scratch this expierience up to one of the worst decisions that I have ever made. I would not reccommend IPL to my worst enemy! I wish that I NEVER did it.
