Please do not have a Thread Lift. I am permanently disfigured; live in Austin TX. Selected a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon w/ 18 years experience. She hurt me, over 60 Injection sites (minimum) then she used a sedative I had an allergic & adverse reaction to. She did not inform me about any disfigurement percentages, which I know now is high. The Manufacturer Surgical Specialties owned by Angiotech, PA & Canada; took the "Contour Threads" off the Market in April 2007. They can not be removed without doing additional damage to the inner facial tissues, or they can over time become forever embedded due to the tearing and scarring caused by the "cogs" or "barbs" running up & down the threads to catch & hold the tissue, more Trauma is necessary to try to untangle & cut them out surgically, causing deep scarring and indentations from where they were. The surgeon must completely open you face as in a face-lift procedure called a Rhytidectomy. In this procedure, your ears are basically cut off, almost completely; there will be the scars all around & inside your ears and painful ones behind you ear running toward your hairline. Just because the manufacturer wrote in advertising the "Contour Threadlift procedure is reversible", it is not reversible in the manner of procedure. Only cutting open the entire face in surgery, lifting the 'SMAS', or cheek section, and removal before tissues have grown over the thread's structure- within maybe 6 weeks, depending upon age, diet, metabolism, etc. Or, while keeping Threads inside your face with tiny "barbs" on the threads, you may experience deformities & something the Surgeons & manufacturer calls "Tethering", the outer face displays the permanently pulled look in many unexpected directions, and as your face moves from speaking or eating, or just trying to smile at the opposite sex, your face will display the 'tethered look' for you from within that looks horrifying and people shun you. Don't do it, they never dissolve, they were removed from manufacture, but there are many surgeons who pre-paid for them and they're using them on you!
to: Maxine75 Detroit, MI Jun 21, 2007 re: your threadlift: part of the problem with the contour & other threadlift manufacturers such as surgical specialties/angiotech; was the threads were approved by the fda, (at least as sutures for the brain), and therefore they sold their brief training/certification & products to non-plastic surgeons, including just m.d.'s, not just your dermatologist. you were sold "a bill of goods" especially after it was on the oprah tv show & other news stories, by the manufacturer "selling" certification to non-surgeons. there are more nerves in your face than any other section of your body, so i've read...but not a surgeon myself. i was disfigured by the contour threads, and a full face lift by the chief of plastic surgery from austin tx could not make me look the way i did before the threads..and only a small piece of one thread on one side could be removed. i seek others for a class action suit; or having your attorney confer with mine to share opinions, expert witnesses & research.
