I now have a follow up comment after having 5 sessions of the original Dermaroller with a medical esthetician. In short, the Dermaroller has given me my life back. I am so glad I ignored ignorant reviews and that I did my research!
Hi Mandy,
Not sure if I'm logged in, using my iPhone but it's Elvellon here.
It's hard to give you an accurate answer here. The reason is because since my last Fraxel I have had 4 Dermaroller treatments and this had changed my skin dramatically (wry happy). Overall I think it was still worth having the Fraxel but the end results were not as impressive as I had hoped. The laser did nothing for my deeper scars but did improve my shallow scars and skin texture. A year out and my skin is still hanging on to a little redness but it's only noticeable up close. Texture wise I never had any problems with all 5 sessions of Fraxel.
Hope this helps!
You do realise that the home Dermaroller is not intended for acne scarring don't you? Read their website at www.dermaroller.com and work it out for yourself. You need to go to a trained practitioner or doctor to have the procedure done properly. I am considering giving Dermaroller a try (I'm in Australia) but I am in the process of researching the procedure very thoroughly. You paid $30 and expected this to work? Secondly, it sounds like you bought a copy of the original Dermaroller. There are many fakes out there so just be careful what you buy. Thirdly, I admire you for being game enough to even do this procedure yourself! I would never, ever, trust myself with a device full of needles. Leave it to the experts...
Oh, and Jean77 is right about it taking months and months to see results. Collagen needs time to build up under the skin. Do a bit of research.
I think you may be using the product incorrectly then... or too much. I've had one for over three years now and I use it once a week. It's only a "bacteria farm" if you don't clean it properly post and pre use, just like your toothbrush. Perhaps a better review would be to explain how you were using it, with what products, and how much etc.
I use my Clarisonic on the lowest setting, with the softest brush and with the Obagi acne skin care range. No complaints here.
Wonderful! I started using my A based product today. My skin is more pink than red so I figured it would be safe. I'm starting with a very small amount and will work up to the normal dose over the next few days.
If you want to start Retin-A, which is stronger than my product, I would pop a thin amount on but don't rub it in, just pat it in so you don't aggrivate your skin.
I'm excited for you! I hope you see wonderful results!
