You say it only works half the time and you think that is not a swindle? People are paying $3000 for a full face treatment. Half of those people are out $3000 -that's a lot of money. I think if their physicians told them that up front thermage would not be around today.

You're right it should not be done on people with thin skin or the eyelids. My right eye was treated with a higher heat setting which burnt my skin and eventually caused fat loss. She turned down the temperature on the left after I complained that what she was doing didn't feel right, and it was not as badly damaged. I now have an a frame deformity on my right eye. Also, she did not let the skin cool between "zaps" either. According to Shawn Carter, a training nurse at Solta, it is very important to let the skin cool at least a minute before retreating.

Not having results is one thing, but having damage is another. You are at the mercy of your practitioner and the machine not malfunctioning. For the record, the doctor that did this is a board certified dermatologist and has done a lot of thermage. I am not sure how many eye treatments. Certainly she should know to not zap the same spot over and over without letting it cool, and using a low temperature on the eyelids.

This is a good link that gives some opinions on how effective thermage is:

When I had a bad result from a botox treatment my doctor tried to convince me I had Cushing's disease. When I didn't buy that she moved on to myasthenia gravis. It's pretty sad when a doctor would rather have a patient think they have a debilitating disease rather than admit their patient had a bad result.

Thanks again for asking about me, Sandy. Nice to know people care.
