I could shower after drains were removed (which for me was 4 days). Be sure to dry the sutures well to decrease risk of infection. I used a blow dryer, kept antibacterial ointment over the suture lines.
Your post and pictures are very similar to my post and what I look like now. I am 12 days post op, I agree those first 10 days are aweful. I did some serious questioning as to what have I got myself into. Muscle pain is improving, able to stand nearly upright now. Love how my back/flanks are looking as the swelling and bruising subside. Will be posting pics once the belly button sutures are removed.
I agree, it has been much more painful than I expected. I consider myself to have a high tolerance for pain (natural childbirth, hard to get blood or IV's on me), but I am reconsidering. I am now 8 days post op, still not standing upright, can't pick up anything off the floor without major incident (have got very good with picking things up with my toes), still painful to get up and down from sitting position. Uggghh, very frustrated with the slow progress.
