I have to say that after having TWO mixto fractional co2 laser treatments, I have seen little to no results-- and I am more than 6 months out now, which is when the "real" results are supposed to show. What I HAVE seen are two things: 1) my face has become discolored even though I use spf 70 when I'm out in the sun (my doctor's office, last time I was there for Botox, said there wasn't any discoloration, but there was some then and there is a lot more now), and 2) my face has a tendency to get little whiteheads that remain on some level under my skin so that they never go away. I think I will have to go to my dermatologist for this.
When I told my doctor (revered plastic surgeon in this area) last time I saw him that I didn't see much improvement in my skin after the mixto (still have dark spots, still have large pores), he said, "Well, it only hits a fraction of your skin, so you can't expect a radical change."
But if you want to spend your money and the down time hiding in seclusion until your face finished being lizard-like, go ahead. I wouldn't do it again.
Bugjune, I am still thinking about you and wishing a complete recovery for you. When you are back to normal, would you post a picture? I'd post pics of my face during the healing process, but I don't know how. Seeing your pictures helped me because I knew what my face could look like, and since even under the best circumstances the face looks bad during healing, it's good to get an idea of it beforehand.
I went to my dr's office a couple of days ago to set up my next treatment. The PA's who work with my doctor do these treatments on each other, and they go to work with their faces in the ugly healing stages. I guess it shows the patients that they trust it for themselves, and they're not embarrassed about how their faces look while they're healing.
My face was entirely healed in 10 days, as my doctor said. I'm sure the antibiotics helped. I'm planning on taking them up on the free second treatment because of the uneven converage. My doctor doesn't do injections to numb the pain, so it will be painful for me, which is a small trauma compared to your saga. I think you were one of small percentage of unfortunate people for whom this treatment goes wrong.
On the 10th day, I went on my two-week trip to England, came home for 2 days, and went on another 3-week trip. No complications whatsoever at that time (the acne I got from the Aquaphor healed up quickly with my daughter's acne meds-- I should have known something so thick and greasy would cause me to break out).
I live in Central Florida and I paid $750 for a treatment. I chose a highly-respected, well-known plastic surgeon's office. One of his PAs did my procedure. I am 4 days post-procedure and have been flaking for 2 days. The areas that are uncovered feel remarkably smooth and my pores look much smaller. However, the PA missed a couple of places-- didn't get close enough under or around one of my eyes and missed three places that were 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch wide-- gaps in the patchwork grid, so to speak. I called her the day after my procedure and she said I could have it done again in two months at no charge because she wants me to be very happy. This is very important to me, because one of the areas on my face that is a concern is an area that was missed. I know everything costs more in NY, but it shouldn't cost more for a doctor to set his tool at a different, "deeper" setting for you than it would cost for him to take the time to do the procedure for someone else on a lighter setting. Everything else is equal; the price should be, too.
I don't know how that happened-- the last sentences--**** What time should I pick you up from the airport? I saw her live about a year or two ago with my daughter and my friend Nikki. Love Kathy G! She's super-tiny, isn't she?! You MUST tell her you're straight and you love her. I watched MY LIFE ON THE D LIST all the time with Laureli. Kathy G! Kathy G! Her mom, Maggie, just turned 90. Kathy tried to get people to write msgs to Mags via FB and Kathy would read them to her. Ask her how many she read-- there were thousands. No way did sh read them all! **** were in the middle of my post. How did they get moved to the end? Makes no sense!
