OK. I HAVE AN UPDATE!!!
I got another email from Fig that didn't make sense, so I finally called the MO Bankruptcy Clerk and got through. I didn't expect to speak to anyone, but I was put in touch with Marsha, who is in charge of the Fig account.
I explained to her that I had filed a claim at the beginning of March and sent a return, self-addressed, stamped envelope for them to confirm receipt, but had never received my receipt. I told her I was very concerned about it and asked if there was anything I could do, since I was still receiving all the notices, but had somehow never gotten my return letter sent back.
She told me she could not tell me if she received my documents because they were under Court Seal under HIPA law, because of Doctor/Patient Confidentiality. She told me that if I sent it, they received it, and it was on the books, but I told her, given the history of this client, that that was not good enough, and that I just didn't know what to do. I mentioned that the notice I'd gotten stated, "Please Do Not File a Proof of Claim Unless You Receive a Notice To Do So." I asked her if this had something to do with receipt of a previous claim.
Marsha explained that the purpose of the letter was just to inform us that Fig's bankruptcy had been converted from a Chapter 11 case to a Chapter 7 case. She further went on to inform me that this account had been assigned a Trustee. The reason for this is that it had been previously determined that Fig had no assets that could be liquidated. The Trustee's sole job is to determine that this statement is either 1.) True or 2.) Incorrect, and that there are some assets which can be liquidated. I asked her, "So what you're saying is, if the Trustee finds that this statement is erroneous, we will get our money back out of the liquidated assets?" She said, "Right. If the Trustee finds that there are some assets that can be liquidated, the amount of liquidated assets will determine what, if any, money the patients may get back."
Then I asked, "Well, in the event the Trustee finds some assets, what about the fact that I haven't received anything stating that you have my documents?" She said, "At that time, you may be asked to submit another Proof of Claim, and those who already have will probably not need to submit anything further, since the Bankruptcy has been converted to Chapter 7, but at this time, it has been found that there are no assets that can be liquidated." I clarified, "So basically, unless the Trustee finds some assets, none of us get our money back." She said, "Yes, that's right. I'm sorry this has been so confusing, but I hope that answered your questions."
I thanked her. She must hate her job, I know she goes through this a lot. This sucks, but I hope this helps someone. I'd say, keep calling. Keep bugging them. Keep fighting. Dammit, I need my $2,000.

Oh yeah, and I paid cash, which I thought was the responsible thing to do. The worst part of it all is, I couldn't even talk to a nurse about the fact that all the bad symptoms remained after the 6 week dissolve period, and I was scared that something was very wrong! I had bruises and hardened nodules and blood clots for nearly 2 months! I am so pissed about everything with them. I can't believe I wasted $2,000 with them and was considering more.
I too was jaded by Fig. I had about 5 different appointments and only got bigger in the lower abdomen area. Then they told me to wait the course of I think 6 weeks to let all the medicine leave my system and then to see the results... nope! Still bigger. So they set me an appointment to start the painful treatments all over again, for December 8th. I go up there, and nothing! I turn on the news, and a whole bunch of us looked as stupid as we felt. I panicked and called the number... nothing. I went on the website, it was now non-existent with no contact information. A few months later, I get some big forms in the mail that I can't understand. I get an attorney friend to help me sort through them (which was embarrassing enough) and I sent them off... no received receipt came back. A few days ago, I get another notice in the mail which I can't see affecting me at all. I don't see how they will be able to get away with not refunding our money. After all, it was promised that if I was the 4% to not get good results (and something tells me that 4% is really 96%), that I would receive a full $2,000 refund. That's a promise I have in writing, but it looks like they are doing everything within their power to not make good on that promise.
I feel like a lab rat, and I incurred long-standing, miserably painful, adverse results from FIG's treatments. If I don't get every penny of my money back, I am down for a class action suit, and I'll even build the website!
