I know it's been awhile since you posted but if you read this, could you please tell me how you're doing now? I went for a consultation today and made an appt for the end of the month with a Dr in Nashville. However, I'm doing as much research as possible before actually committing. I'll try looking her up but if I can't find her could you please tell me where she's located. M'boro? Nashville?? Thanks~

Shea~ I'm just wondering if your dentist was certified in Invisalign? It's always recommended to go to a certified Ortho. While braces do fix problems 100%, Invisalign can't. It just depends on how how bad the teeth are. Also, approx. 18 trays doesn't seem like enough considering the problems you described with your teeth. Maybe the dentist WAS trying to make a quick buck??!? I just started with Invisalign and so far, I haven't had any problems (knock wood). It took me 2-3 days to get used to it but that's all. Plus I brush/floss my teeth about FOUR times a day now and clean my trays while I'm at it. Don't feel bad about your age either- I'm a little older than you but just think of the great smiles we'll have when it's over!! :) I don't think the regular braces are bad at all. My son wore them & I thought they were pretty cool. I remember when I was a kid and wore the OLD braces! Now THAT, I would never do again! Good luck!!

I'm 40ish and on my 4th day. First day or two was annoying (just the feel of it) but it's better now. I had no lisp or really any problems. I also suck on them sometimes like someone else mentioned and you do feel them tightening up. I wondered too if maybe they were supposed to be tighter. Sometimes I can't imagine having to wear these for a year but I keep thinking of the outcome. Hopefully I'll be happy with it. Also, I don't snack as much either. Not worth the trouble. When I have a meal I decide beforehand what I want and don't take the aligners out until I'm ready to eat. Then I have my cig, brush/floss my teeth, brush the aligners and pop them right back in. The more they're in the faster I'll be finished!I smoke too and since they'll just be in for 2 weeks at a time I'm hoping they won't get discolored that fast. Anyone else smoke with them in? I also recommend going to an ortho, NOT a dentist. (unless he/she is certified in Invisalign). I'd also like to hear from someone who is in their first few months or so. When do you start to see results?? Good luck everyone!
