Marilicious, I didn't find the surgery that bad at all! If you'd like to talk more, feel free to email, especially closer to the time of your surgery. The scariest part for me was the waiting to get to surgery. Once they start the anasthesia you'll be out in 20 seconds. After that, I don't remember I thing during the surgery. Immediately afterwards kind of sucks. haha. It's really good to have someone to take care of you for a couple days. Although prior to surgery I told my mom I'd be fine and that she didn't need to come, I was so happy she was there the day following my surgery! Coming out of anasthesia I was extremely nausous and throwing up blood that had gotten into my stomach from the surgery. I threw up about 3 times in the 3 hours after surgery. Then I went home and went to bed for the night. The next day wasn't too bad. I was achy and a naseous, but it really wasn't too bad. it's not stabbing, awful, unbearable pains. I had pain meds that made me feel naseous so I was more naseous then in pain. (although i wasn't throwing up, just felt sick to my stomach.) After laying around for a couple hrs, my mom and i went for a walk on the beach and i showed her around town some. I had to take a couple breaks to sit down, but again, it was because i felt naseous, not because of pain in my face/nose. the second and third day were the worst looking; my eyes were greenish from bruising and swollen, but like i said, that was the worst day, it got better after that. also, i didn't eat anything except grahm crackers for like 3 days too because of the nausea. that was the worst of it! it's hard to eat because of the pain-- it's not awful pain, but you just don't feel like opening your mouth wide or smiling big, etc. it's great for weight control! hah. if you have other questions, let me know!
I know the postings are confusing! I'll explain :o) I first posted because I changing something like my nose, (even if for the better!), was kind of shocking, and I was looking for reassurance. Now that I've gotten used to the change, I love it! The doctor did a great job straightening it. (I don't think the pictures show how crooked it really was.) He took some artistic liberty and slightly narrowed the tip which I also love now. although i think that is what shocked me the most at first because we didn't talk about doing that pre-op. but once the swelling went down, and i got used to the change, i realized i lOVED it! the only thing i would change (and might end up changing) is the side profile. I asked for it to be slightly dished, and I feel that it's still slightly convex. (i don't know the correct terms.) Maybe there's still swelling that needs to go down? What is a supratip deformity and how do you fix it? Thank you for taking the time to comment!

Thank you all so much for taking the time to look and comment! And thank you for the compliments! :o) They all really made me smile.
oh, and i'm not sure what packing looks like, but i could see my splints, although not very well. if i looked up my nose, i could see what looked like a plastic straw inside. it did not stick out of the nose at all. in fact, on one side i couldn't see it, but could see it on the other. also, i could feel something was in my nose, slightly obstructing my breathing.
