I had LSL in May of 08 and am happy with my results. I am 60 yrs.old. I took my own before and after photos and there is a big difference. I get compliments on my appearance often although I told only one person outside of immediate family that I had this done. I am glad I did it. It all depends on the skill of your surgeon. Ask to see prior patients. I went to a seminar that my doctor held and spoke with several of them, saw their scars etc. That convinced me to go ahead with it.
I had my lifestyle lift plus eye work on May 7, 2008 and am now over 2 mos. I am HAPPY that I had it done and I see a big difference in my own before and after photos. It all depends on the skill of your surgeon. I am 60 years old - no one believed my age before having this done and I get lots of compliments since. My scars are a fine line very close to my ears and into my hair line and they do not show. Just ask to speak with and meet prior patients who had this done by your doctor before you commit yourselves. I did.
Good for you - read my earlier posts so that you can be fully prepared about what to expect for the first week. I slept in a recliner with a neck pillow, ate soft foods, and put ice on a lot and used the ointment on my eye area as directed. I even waited a few more days to wash my hair.
My scars are very fine pink lines and are very close to my ears at 2 mos after my surgery. I feel fine and am planning a Luau for 30 next week and I am doing all the cooking myself. My pink eye area from the laser is fading but not gone yet and I am very careful to wear sunglasses and a sunhat. I am glad I had it done - take your own before and after photos so you can compare and remember just how you looked and why you made this decision. I am glad I did. Good Luck !!!
You are given a local anesthesia by a shot. Honestly I had my eyes done as well, and do not remember a thing, even how I got to the car after it was all over.
Then they cut from your temple along your hair line very close to your ear, under it, up behind it and sometimes jog out a little into the back of your hairline. ( I had a little shaving in these areas just before the surgery which was a surprise to me)
They pull the skin back from your cheeks and up from your neck and trim off what is not needed and then sew you up.
A traditional Face lift is much more extensive. You have general anesthesia - more risky- and your face is laid open and the muscles underneath your skin are all pulled, cut and tightened and sewn back together. Then your skin is pulled and trimmed and sewn back over this. The recovery is much more extensive as is bruising etc.
