Actually I did not have a pain pump, I don't want to misquote but whatever he put inside of me during surgery was some type of local numbing solution that wears off in about a week (I think?) so you don't need to take as much pain medication. I was amazed by it actually. I did take hydrocodone probably 2 every 4-6 hrs the first day or so and it controlled pain very well for me. I easily reduced that to one and sometimes just took tylenol 3. I also requested a some valium and it helped me (only took occasionally and mostly later in healing after I was off most pain meds it helped deal with mild muscle spasms, nothing extremely bad just tightening of muscles). Honestly I remember having 2 c-sections and it was really rough walking the same day. I am still amazed that I walked up two flights of stairs (slowly of course) to stay at a friends just a couple hours after surgery. The pain was not in the incision site at all, like I had imagined it would be. You will do just fine and this type of surgery is also nice because you actually feel your belly is gone right away, even with bandages I felt much smaller. As far as pain meds, I felt the pain was very controlled and at no time did I feel in terrible pain. Good luck to you on your surgery. I think you will be thrilled with your results, seriously I took a year to get the courage up for the surgery and I am so glad I did it. As far as the pain pump Im not sure, I know they help with pain alot, I had one after c section and it worked well. I am not sure how mobile they are. Also, make sure you have some kind of recliner to sit in the first few days. I spent most of my time in one and it really helped me getting up and down and being able to elevate feet and dangle them.
Hi Katgirl, how do you like your final results? I am still thrilled and sometimes find myself checking to make sure belly isn't back! lol. I can't believe its been 9 months since I had mine and still hard as a rock. I am still seeing Dr. K and hope for a breast aug in the next two months.Hope you are well and enjoying your new outlook on life. :)
You look wonderful! You had an under the muscle implant? It seems like you recovered exceptionally well from it! Thanks for the updates, it really helps. I am looking to take the plunge so to speak in the next two months and this helps so much hearing others experiences.
I think they look great. I know we are most critical of our own results. I am hoping to have an augmentation done in the next two months after having a full tummy tuck and lipo last November and reading these posts have been so helpful to me. Keep us posted on your feelings about surgery. I am concerned about getting breasts that are to large. I have broad shoulders and need at least a D cup to be proportionate, my PS told me that because I am muscular though he would not recommend going under the muscle because it can cause problems when muscles flex or displace the implant. I'm sure every physician has their own opinions on this. However you look wonderful.
You look wonderful! How are you feeling now? I was a bit surprised it takes very long for swelling and if you overdo at times (like I did, climbing a tree 2 weeks post op and moving a couch)it does come back to haunt you. But I am now 9 months post op and even still I get some slight burning when I overdo it but nothing major. Now I look at it as being able to "feel my muscle working". I also had the swelling at hip..right where incision ended one side looked bigger than other side and it really concerned me. I have heard that is a common thing and it took several months of contemplating on a laser treatment (to help swelling faster) but my PS said it would reduce on its on and he was right it finally did so don't get to alarmed. That area is very sensitive and can take a long time to heal, or swelling goes down and up for some time. Best of luck to you, enjoy your new fabulous tummy!
