  • Posted to Restylane side effects - what did you experience? on 19 Sep 2009

The same thing happened to me. I have puffiness under my left eye (swollen) and it looks worse than the hollowness I had. I am wondering if this will go down, as it's been months already. The doctor offered to inject it to melt it, but I told him not yet. He said that it would go down. I do like this doctor very much, but disappointed. In fact, he was actually doing my lips, and started injecting the little that was left under my eyes. It happened so fast, I didn't know what was happening. Since he had done it a couple of years ago and it looked fine, I didn't think much of it afterwards until I realized it wasn't going down. UGH, it's awful to try to improve your appearance that then have it backfire.

Wow, I am sorry you ladies have experienced these horrible symptoms. I am not sure what to think. I have been getting Botox injected for a couple of years now and each time I go, I ask the doctor for reassurance. The only thing I've experienced is a headache for a few hours or so (and not always) and then it usually goes away. My doctor says with the right amount and if the Botox is injected properly by a skilled doctor or PA, it is safe. After reading these posts, I do feel anxious about it. I am supposed to get it done today. I go about every 4-6 months and love the results, but yes, the thought of getting poison (basically) injected into my forehead, is quite scary. Funny, I had Restylane last year and I came down with flu like symptoms and Restylane is supposed to be safe, as it's a hyaluronic acid gel that resembles the body's own hyaluronic acid and is approved by the FDA. Anyway, my apt. is at 9:30 this AM and now debating on whether or not to get the Botox. It works wonders on the outside, but I don't know what the heck it's really doing to my/our insides. I better make my decision quickly. My doctor is supposed to be one of the top guys with regards to injectables, but one is always taking a chance with something like this.
