Oh Amelia, I am so sorry to hear about your hemoglobin, that is scary stuff and it feels absolutely awful. I am glad to know your are eating well (kale soup,kale soup, kale soup and liver if you can stand it). If you do need a transfusion you will feel miles better in a matter of minutes. No fun Being in the emergency room, makes one even more exhausted and discouraged not to mention just generally skeezed out. I'm glad you are home and resting! Feel better soon, sending good energy your way.
Thank you so much for your reply, I am certainly going to look into this option. I just wish I had more info on why the FDA did its about face. Hopefully Dr. T will have more info when we meet next week. When he called the only info he had was the four sentences the FDA emailed out asking surgeons to stop using it and not elaborating on why.
So I have been desperately scanning the web and can find no new info about Brava since FDA sent the email on Thursday. I plan to call Brava myself on Monday and am meeting with Dr. T next week to discuss correcting asymmetry without Brava use. I also intend to take Amelia's advice and ask him about ordering and doing Brava on my own using my own protocol. My sense is he isnt supportive of this but I won't know until we talk. I am amazed how sad I am about this. I try to keep in perspective that this is an ELECTIVE surgery and there are women out there who use AFT to repair after mastectomy and lumpectomy? And there are many out there who need necessary medical procedures (not cosmetic) who can't afford them. So this , for me without a doubt, is a luxury problem. Right now that isn't making this easier for me, I hope to feel better after meeting with Dr. T. Such a big part of me wishes I could just suck it up and get small implants but I can't, too much baggage for me and I fear I would greatly resent them after they were in. Sigh, thanks for letting me vent. Are there any women out there who are in the midst of Brava and dealing with this? Has your ps stopped your protocol? Are you being grandfathered?
Well, it appears I and not fated for Brava after all. Dr. Tantillo called me to let me know that the FDA has pulled it's support for Brava so in the mean time (years) until more studies are done it will no longer be an option. He will share more info with me about the recall and why but at the moment he is simply going by an email update sent to all surgeons re: Brava use. I imagine Khouri is having fits. I am meeting with Dr. t next week to discuss options (still not comfy with implants) I am heartsick about this which I know it's lame but after finally making my decision and having it then disappear really stinks!
