Hi, Stephanie!
First off, I just have to say that you are a beautiful girl! :) I completely understand your concerns because I had them myself before I had rhinoplasty. I'm going to reiterate what others have said here - your nose is absolutely not a lost cause. My nose was FAR worse and my surgeon did a phenomenal job. Of course, the skill of the surgeon is imperative, so please make sure you do your research.
I'm now almost 5 weeks post op and I am in love with my new nose. I'll admit the first 2 weeks of healing were not fun. Pain was fairly tolerable. It was more discomfort than anything - it felt like a very severe sinus congestion. My surgeon was Dr. Cory Torgerson in Toronto, Ontario. He used a technology called Canfield Vectra Imaging that took a 3D picture of my face, and he then tweaked my nose within the program to show me what my new nose could potentially look like. I have a snapshot of my 3D image, so I'll post this for you.
My surgeon takes into account your ethnic background, facial structure, and your expectations in deciding what nose would suit your face. Like you, I was afraid I wouldn't look myself, but my surgeon covered all angles and gave me a nose that I feel I should have been born with. People don't even notice I had work done. They just mention that something is different about me and they can't put their finger on it, but I look great. It's a wonderful feeling!
Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions. :)
Your new nose looks awesome! I just had rhinoplasty surgery (closed) on February 13 and I am so anxious to get my cast off. I am very swollen and bruised right now. Pain is minimal, but there is a lot of discomfort. You're lucky you recovered so quickly. Enjoy the new and improved you. You look beautiful! :)
Hi, TC! :)
Thanks for sharing your story here. I just had primary rhinoplasty surgery on February 13. Recovery so far has been tolerable, albeit I am quite swollen and bruised. There isn't nearly as much pain as there is discomfort. It pretty much feels like I have a very serious sinus infection.
As already mentioned, everyone heals differently. My sister had rhinoplasty in December (performed by the same surgeon as me) and she healed very quickly with barely any swelling or bruising at all. She clearly has superhuman healing capabilities! I haven't been as lucky unfortunately. I'm just taking it one day at a time and reminding myself that this is a temporary state of being. That is really all anyone can do.
Please do not let your surgeon rush you. This is a very delicate procedure and he should be open to address any questions or concerns you may have. Don't settle with him if you have the slightest gut feeling he will not perform the surgery to your satisfaction.
I'm not religious, but I don't believe God will judge you for undergoing this surgery. I say if you're happy, God is happy and He will support you throughout the way.
Let me know if you have any questions. I'd be happy to answer them.
Best of luck to you! :)
