  • Posted to How was your eyelid (blepharoplasty) surgery recovery? on 6 Jan 2013

You described it so well. I had my eyes done in October and am still seeing changes. I had expectations too that it would be "no big deal" but I was very uncomfortable for about ten days and did have to use the pain pills at night for several days. My eyes were very tired for about two weeks. I am so happy with my results. Definitely watch expectations.

Hi, I am on day five of my upper Bleph. I am really glad I did it but I didn't realize how long the recovery takes and I am grateful for the posts here. I had wanted to do it for five years before I finally did it. Most of the Drs that I interviewed wanted to do general anesthesia and a hospital stay. I am totally afraid of general anesthesia. Finally I was referred to a PS in my hometown, went to see him and he said it would be done in the office with a local and a valium. Hot Dog! I went for it. The procedure was really easy, I just laid there and listened to music, felt a little pulling and tugging but no pain. I felt alot of burning for the first few days but the pain pills work fine. I used a lot of ice packs. My eyes are still really bruised and swollen and sensitive.I ended up taking seven days off of work and I am glad because I needed that extra time to recoup. I am not quite happy with the way they look yet but after reading these posts I know I need to be more patient. I am 61 years old and wanted to get those droopy flaps off the top of my eyes. I told my PS to be very conservative and not take out any fat because I didn't want a sunken look. He did exactly what I asked, said I would be wanting the lowers done too and he was right. I am glad I just did the uppers because the lowers can be tricky. I know what to expect and I trust this doctor so when I'm I will use him again.
