You'll do fine. I won't lie, it is scary. Let the nurses and the anesthesiologist know that you are scared and you'll be given something to take the edge off. Once they gave me something all I remember is being wheeled into the operating room and then waking up in recovery. As far as the pain is concerned, it's more of a burning. It will be pretty intense the first day and get better each day following. What's bothering me at 11 days po is that I still can't stand straight. I still get tired after doing just a few things and I need to sit down. I'm a very active person and I want to be fully back to normal now not 6 weeks from now. The swelling is the worst and so I eat very small amounts of food and no salt. Keep lots of liquids on hand and be very diligent with your stool softeners and fiber. I had a horrible time with a BM. Please get some rest & think happy thoughts. It'll be over before you know it :)
Hi Fresitasol - I know how scared you are. Kept myself as busy as possible prior to the surgery. When I arrived the morning of the surgery I was trying to have a very low key leaving from my hubby and kids. I was staying as calm as possible as I could especially so my boys wouldn't be scared. The nurses and anesthesiologist knew I was scared so they gave me something to take the edge off before taking me to the OR. Let them know your fears & they'll make you as comfortable as possible. Best of luck to you - ill be following you.
Insanity is a great workout. They'll be times when you won't want to do it but keep your eye on the prize. Good luck on your journey. I'm on po day 6 and its been a pretty bad day. Overall though the recovery hasn't been too bad.
You didn't walk straight till day 15?!? I'm getting so antsy now - I can't imagine having to wait that long. I stopped the heavy meds two nights ago & went on extra strength Tylenol. I haven't taken any though since last night before I went to bed. My husband's back to work tomorrow but my kids do have off. The swelling is horrible. I can be sitting fine then all of a sudden I feel like a stuffed sausage. I want to be back to normal soon
