  • Posted to Discouraged by Vaser Lipo Results, Fluctuating Weight - Netherlands on 4 Aug 2009

I had Vaser surgery May 28, 2009 and had my upper, lower abs and flanks done. During my consultation I specifically asked my doctor what sort of results I would get on my lower ab as I too have stretch marks from my pregnancy. He said that he tell me for sure what sort of results I would get there as the skin has been "damaged" due to the stretch marks. He said the skin would tighten some but it's really hard to tell how much. My results were unusual per the doctor, as I had swelling but I lost the majority of it w/i 2 weeks and as you, my compression garment no longer fit. If you over exert yourself you can swell which in turn can cause weight gain. Overall I am happy with my results, although the skin has not tightened as much as I hoped but the doctor said I should still see results over the next3-4 month or so (I had my 6 wk right after the 4th of July and my final pics are in January)...and they were very happy with the progress based on the before pics and the 6wk pics. I still feel swollen at times and am paranoid about gaining weight-I guess I am used to how I look now and the results don't look as dramatic as they did before-but that's just me! I dropped about 5 inches from my waist and 4 inches in my hips so I am very happy with that! My thought on your pics is that whatever fat was there was filling in the area of the stretch marks and now that is gone the skin is sagging which is what my doc warned me of but felt that my stretch marks were not as bad as some....when I stand up they look better but if I bend over at the waist they are more pronounced-not as much as yours though. I will keep alook out for your update after your doctor visit.....Best of luck!

WOW!!! Your pics are great!!! I had Vaser done 04/28/09 and look worse now than before the surgery! My husband is the sound of reason and assures me that it will get better! I'm swollen and in pain....As you mentioned, I didn't drain much-mostly that night and a little the following day so I believe you are correct that I am more swollen because of this. I am wearing my compression suit as tight as I can-I almost wonder if it' too big for me-I am goin to check on my visit this friday...I was orignally a size 16...with diet and exercise got down to a 12 and had this done because my abs weren't progressing like the rest....If my final results are like yours I would be thrilled!!!!! How long before your swelling went away in you ab area??? and how much did your skin tighten? That's a concern I have as well but the doctor felt confident that my results would be good......I guess I'm just a worry wart-my husband just keeps reassuring me it will be fine....keep up the good work-you look wonderful!

I had Vaser done 04/28/09 on my upper/lower abs and flanks. As you mentiond, those areas were not getting better with exercise-they were getting a little smaller but not much. My doctr told me that the areas that I experienced the most discomfort during the procedure would be the areas I would experiece the most discomfort after which is true. Has anyone experienced itching on the treated areas? I don't think its the garmet causing it and I have a burning sensation on those areas as well? I read somethingon line from someone that said the burning sensation is actally the friction of the skin moving against the rest of the body and will get better as the body heals. I didn't notice swelling the 1st couple days but today I feel really swollen. I drained alot the 1st night and the next day but after that there wasn't that much. Again the doctor said that was fine and the body will absorb the rest-but didn't say how it would eliminate-I know I've been driking alot of water as directed-so I've been going to the bathroom a lot so I'm not sure if its the water or my bod eliminating the fluids or a combo of the 2???? Any ideas???? I'm a worry wart so any insight anyone can give would be wonderful-I visit the doctor on 06/05 but would like a little reassurance. thanks
