Still have small pockets and took pictures of it and emailed to dr and he isn't alarmed..he said just try to rest(haha) and keep compression garment tight.i will go in on Monday if I see more of a bigger change to have it taken care of..I live on Long Island ny so the snow expected will force me to take the day off:) dr does say small fluid does reabsorb into the body...thanks for asking ..how's your recovery been ?
My PS took my drains out after 5 days and I read some people had them in for 2 weeks..he said he believes that there is more risk of infection keeping them in ..but I did need an aspiration on my left side..you can easily tell when a seroma develops which is not uncommon ..just don't want to ignore it. I do think at 51 we are not healing as well as a 30 year old but I think it's all relative...I just can't rest and that is why my PS said I am collecting more fluid than should be...Did you only have one drain put in? ..my belly button is funky looking and I hear about marbles helping but again, my PS says the swelling will dissipate as time goes on ...and belly button should hopefully not be so much of an outtie....are you tired as the day progresses or haven't notice any change there?
I had my husband ultrasound me last night at our local hospital since he does this for a living and saw pockets of fluid on the right and left side by my hips..I already had one aspiration on left and thought I would have to go in this morning but swelling went down overnight so I am going to try to rest today..see if more swelling goes down before I rush to be aspirated ..my PS believes in not keeping drains in because it could cause more infection but I guess I want instant gratification but I am so so happy I did this actually when I'm 51 then in my 40's... Going through the menopause and such women tend to gain in the belly so I hope I stay ahead of the curve...
I am 12 days post op.. and had swelling on my left side incision and had to have it aspirated..Did you put the ice paks on the incision area? or stomach itself..I started back to work 8 days postop and maybe doing too much..didnt have the backache at all ...would like to know the treatment of ice..thanks
