Jinx, I sometimes feel the same way. I look in the mirror and think, what the heck did I do? And when I'm shopping, I still feel wide and shapeless. My upper stomach seems to protrude, the swelling above my incision is uneven, and my pubic region is still puffy! But, I am staying with a girlfriend who had the surgery 7 years ago, and she has been SO encouraging. We went to an outlet mall yesterday and I bought a pair of pants and realized, I don't have love handles. No more junk to try to tuck in my pants or hide with looser fitting tops. My girlfriend also told me not to buy too much, because this ridiculous swelling will go down. Eventually. I look at her scars and her shape and I have hope. I think because we are a little older, it just takes our bodies a little longer to deal. Patience is definitely key, although I'm running out quickly!! Hang in there dear!!!
Hi Charmed! Thought I would pipe up since I'm still on my vacation! My sister and I took six kids, ages 5-13, to Disney last week. As you can imagine, chasing after and herding 6 kids is hard enough, let alone all the walking through the parks. I'm certain we did 20 miles+ per day, trying to get on certain rides at certain times and crossing the park so many times I could have done it in my sleep. If I had slept! I am 8 or 9 weeks out now. I can't remember. By the time we would get back to the rental home after 8-12 hours of this, I could hardly move. Unfortunately, my sister was not very understanding, so when I would say that I was sore, she felt I was just complaining and would keep on going. I was literally bent over after the second day, and was so sore and so tired that I actually couldn't sleep. We also talked about going to Busch Gardens, but I was in no shape to go. It has also been cold down here, so having to wear jeans every day has made my scars quite tender. I am now staying with my girlfriends, and we went shopping yesterday for about 4 hours. Today, we were all supposed to head back up to Tampa, but I just can't do it. I opted to stay behind and rest today. I'm really just beat and kind of sore. Again, because I was sore last night, I couldn't sleep. SO, now that I have written a short story, my advice to you would be to simply make sure you have time to rest. Listen to your body. If it is telling you to stop, then you don't want to push it, because then it will take longer to recover. I would say start walking and keep on walking!
