CMONTGOMERY 103 Well I never made any decision yet because to my surprise my breasts actually look great after removing my implants with out doing anything else. I always worried they would look like empty tube socks after removing my implants but most of my breast was my own fat. I was skinny and tiny when I first got implants at the age of 28 and went from a B to a full C. Then after having kids, and getting older my breasts grew to a Double D. Over the 17 years I had my implants the implants slowly decreased in size and my own natural tissue grew so that by the time i had them removed I went from a DD to a D cup naturally. My only complaint is that my left breast is now slightly smaller than the right because the Doc had to remove scar tissue too, on that one only. I'm 47 now and don't care as much about having perfect breasts so I may never do anything else. I'm glad to hear what your Mammographer had to say ( be able to distinguish any dead fat(cysts) from cancer) That is encouraging! I should call my mammographer too and get their opinion as well as I think more about what I may or may not do in the future to even out my breasts. Trust me I was never taking just one opinion into account lol I will need to hear 100's of opinions before I make any more PS decisions about my own body. I guess I am more in the category of (Most plastic surgeons are cautiously waiting for more long term research.) due to the fact that when I got my implants ALL Plastic Surgeons said they would last a life time...long term proved them all wrong.
When did I ever say i was shocked at what my Doc said? He said exactly what I expected him to ...I just wanted to hear him say it because it was what I already thought. Common sense told me what the risks could be with out finding anything on it on the WEB, my Doc just confirmed my suspicions. Since there is not much info if ANY on the RISKS for fat transfer on the WEB I just wanted to share that with people who were unaware of those risks. I'm glad YOU went to a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon NOT ALL DO ~ In fact there are more Docs on this site that ARE NOT Board certified advertising this procedure than are~ so that advice is to young women who may not be aware of that fact when they come to this site to research...since that is what this site is about....sharing information to empower each other with knowledge. Sorry you can't see that! Good luck and God bless!
He said you should not have any plastic or cosmetic surgery performed by someone who is not a BOARD CERTIFIED PLASTIC SURGEON. any one else just does not have the training, experience, education, and know how to perform any procedure that could affect our health and lives. So I am hoping that all you girls who decide to have this procedure will make sure your Doc is a "Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.
oh and Mandy one more thing my Doc said was that there is no way to know yet if those cysts will turn into cancer long term because the procedure is still too new to know long term results. He said it is very possible that one of those benign cysts could turn in breast cancer if left long for a long time....there is just no way to say for sure at this early stage.
Yes that is what my Doc said too but he also said that you can't tell from the mammogram if it is a cyst just from the fat transfer or a real breast cancer and each one would have to be surgically removed and tested to make SURE it's not cancer. So he said that is why he and most Certified Plastic surgeons don't perform this procedure because for years you could be chasing those cycts and have to have multiple surgeries to remove them...other wise if you just guess that it's a benign cycts...you could be wrong and really have breast cancer. There is no way to tell from the mamogram if it is benign or cancer so each one will have to be removed. This is the only reason I am not jumping into this procedure with both feet...I want to learn more before I do it.
