I am already seeing good results with the Doxycycline and Elidel cream. The white bumps and acne like bumps are almost gone. The skin feels much smoother and looks less irritated in the eye area between the eye and bridge of the nose. It is funny I naturally felt like massaging that area. My surgeon is an ocular plastic surgeon and does other types of eye surgeries. She is know for not over doing things. I had almost no bruising after the surgery. The eye lids are looking good. It is the laser resurfacing that has been giving me fits, but things are looking much better. It is so good to have someone to talk to who has had a similar experience.
Thanks for the encouragement. I am 4 months into the healing process. You are right about the makeup not adhering to the skin, although it is getting easier to cover now. I really like Blemish Balm Classic by Dr. Christine Schrammek. Lancome 24 hour foundation and concealer works well too. The upper eye lids are healing well. I decided to go to a dermatologist for a second opinion, since I had lots of little white bumps (milia) in the under eye area as well as redness where I had the laser resurfacing. The surgeon had given me a cortisone cream and the dermatologist said to stop using it. He then prescribed antibiotics (Doxycycline) and Elidel cream. The surgeon came highly recommended, and actually teaches the procedure. She was very nice before the surgery. After the two week appointment, she said that I was healing beautifully. Even the receptionist asked her if she wanted to schedule a follow up appointment. She said only if I needed anything. I thought that was weird. I did schedule follow up appointments with her partner and then with her at 3 months. They just keep saying it takes time, that is why I went for a second opinion.... Let's see if the new treatment works.
My eyes are looking better since my last post. I finally found makeup to cover the redness from the laser resurfacing under my eyes. I am using a Lancome concealer and foundation. The sales woman at Ulta was really helpful and gave me samples to compare with the other products that I already had. The skin is slowly healing and is much easier to cover. The upper lids are healing and feeling less tight. It really helps to look back at pictures of me before the surgery. I do look better and I enjoy applying eye shadow and mascara. At least I am finally feeling like it was worth it.
I am two months into recovery after upper eyelid surgery and am 66 years old. I wish I had read this before doing the surgery. The recovery is much more intense than expected. The lower eyelid surgery was done with a laser to remove bags and resurfacing under the eyelid. The upper eyelid surgery is going fairly well. My eyes were so hooded before that I couldn't even use makeup. The good news is my eyes do look better and I am able to wear eye shadow and mascara. I am still experiencing swelling in the morning. The bad news is that the skin under my eyes are still red from the laser resurfacing. The dark circles I once had are now red. I am having a terrible time finding makeup to cover the redness on the skin under the eyes. I have always used Estee Lauder products, but the concealer and makeup would not adhere to the skin at all. My doctor recommended Merle Norman theatrical makeup and green concealer, but that didn't work at all. I am now using Blemish Balm Classic by Dr. Med. Christine Schrammek and lose mineral powder from Jane Iredale that works for a few hours. It is still not great. At this point I am regretting the laser resurfacing.
Does any one have any makeup ideas?
