  • Posted to Am I being unrealistic having a tummy tuck done with a 6 month baby at home? on 29 Jan 2013
I am not breastfeeding. Also, I am very lucky to work from home. I did speak to my ps previous patients. One was a police officer. She went back 11 days po but on light duty. The other was a teacher and went at two weeks. I do have to say that I have a very high pain tolerance. I was expecting it to be really bad. As a matter of fact, when they woke me from anesthesia and sent me home I was regretting surgery. Not because of pain. I just hated being soooo sleepy. My husband was a saint and woke me for pain meds. It was very hard not to pick my baby up the first week, but I put a pillow on my belly and fed him often by day 4. By two weeks u can do everything(with caution) I'm doing laundry, driving kids everywhere, cookingetc. I do feel sore at times, then I slow down. U just have to have patience, and being that I have a Busy household 3 weeks flew By!! Do not be discouraged. I was off pain meds by day 4. U can do this.

Hi. U r not unrealistic. I have a 6 month old, twin 12 yr olds, and a 10 yr old. I will be 3 weeks post op tomorrow. My ps said I could lift under 20 lbs after 1 week. I am getting around just fine. The first 4 days are the worst. U will definitely need help for the first week. I still do get swollen and sore, but nothing intolerable. My husband stayed home for a week and a half. After 1 week I was back to doing everything. Every day is different. Yesterday I felt wonderful and probably overdid it because today I'm sore. Don't be discouraged. U can definitely do this. Please feel free to ask me any questions. Good luck

Thanks. Congrats on your upcoming tt! I will be honest recovery is definitely more than I anticipated but definitely doable. My husband stayed home for a week and a half. My ps said I could lift under 20lbs after one week. I know I am probably overdoing it with the lifting but I can't help it. He's only 6 months. I do get very swollen towards the end of the day and have some zings of pain but it is tolerable. I have 4 kids and although it is very hard to sit down or rest, my body tells me that have to. I have a really high pain tolerance and did everything after 3 cesareans but this is different. Not necessarily harder just different. My only advice is to take as much help with the baby as u can. U will definitely need full-time help the first week. Hope this helps. Good luck and feel free to ask me anything. It will be well worth it in the end. Happy mom, happy family!!:)

Hi pink 1111. Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I started out with a binder from my ps. It is now a little big, which is good and bad. I did purchase a cg but find it so uncomfortable. At 2 weeks po I started wearing spanx all day and my binder at night. That is just what I feel is most comfortable. I highly recommend tons of pillows, low cal snacks, and plenty of liquids. The first two days I was sleeping on and off and lived on water and crackers. U will need to eat something with all the meds. If u have any more questions I would be more than happy to answer them. Good luck and please keep me posted!

Hi Lourdes I believe we had our tt a day apart. Mine was the 9th. Although I am very happy with my results so far I must say that I have some pain in the same spot above an to the right of my belly button. Are u still experiencing any pain? I wonder if it is normal or not. Im very swollen at night. I can't help but hold my 6 month old at times. I'm trying to limit but it's impossible. I'm back to my normal routine but when he goes to bed at night I am physically hunched and ready for bed! On another note.. I checked out your pics and your scar looks great! Even with the splitting stitch. Mine still has scabs. I will try to post pics in the morning from my phone. My iPad will not let me.
