  • Posted to My Nose Has Turned and the Nostrils Are Two Different Sizes After Rhinoplasy! on 17 Jun 2009

hello, i had the same rhino as you 6 weeks ago. i had a bump removed and it straigtened out. My results are pretty similar to yours! it now leans slightly to the opososit way and seems shorter than before. The main problem is that one nostril is a different shape and size to the other and it really shows!! So i know how you must feel. I think your front photo looks nice and you are still a pretty girl. I know why your upset though. At 6 weeks there may be more swelling to come down. what has your doc said? i a seeing mine on monday. x

Thanks Miss Illinoi - really helps to know that others have gone through something similar. I guess when you have the bandages off and look worse than you did before (due to swelling and bruising) with lots of strange unexpexted effects like skin reactions and not being able to smile, you think WHAT A MASSIVE MISTAKE I'VE MADE! But i'm coming to terms with the fact that the healing process, for me at least, is going to be over a period of months rather than days or weeks. I'm really glad that someone else knows what I mean about the flat face effect. I think the worst of my look is actually in my eyes at the moment - e.g. pretty sunken and dark. When I put sunnies on I could just about pass for 'normal'. Anyhow thank you again for your advice - it is honestly reassuring. I'm really glad that it worked out ok for you in the end and hope that you are still pleased with the results.

I've been reading your posts with interest as I feel like I could have written them myself! I had a septorhinoplasty ten days ago - the op "was successful and acheived all of the steps they set out to" in the words of my surgeon. Before: my nose wasnt straight on my face and veered off slightly to the right. The surgery was to straigten it and remove the slight hump in the bridge. I also had the tip worked on a bit as I felt it was a little square and stuck up. After: I have been really sad bacause: 1) loss of movment to my top lip - i cant smile cause the skin feels to thick and tight. 2) i was expecting a straight nose but the tip is not central. My nostrils are slightly uneven. 3) the removal of the hump has given me a really strange flat face effect. I do not look like me anymore. My natural instinct is to hideaway from everyone but know this is not the answer. I have to keep forcing myself to look in the mirror to try and get used to it- but this is just making me feel worse (as i cant get used to it!). Any thoughts for coming to terms with this? :) thank you
