Since you are only 5 weeks postoperative you most likely will continue to improve. It is not unusual to have some postoperative asymmetry secondary to swelling. Micropore tape is helpful to help support the early "scar" from widening and providing external pressure preventing excess scar production. However patients can develop an allergic reaction to the adhesive. In my experience once the wounds are healed( no scabs) I recommend silicone sheeting to cover the wounds for the next 3 months. Your final result usually takes 6 to 9 months to appreciate the final contour and symmetry. At this time minor adjustments can be made as needed, often using local anesthesia. I would express your concerns and feel free to ask any questions directly with your Plastic Surgeon at your next follow appointment.
