Definitely not at my request. The doctor said that was his standard operating procedure, which surprised me. I asked about just using a local but he was fairly firm that he preferred general. It certainly added to the expense.
I'd rather not name the doctor on here publicly but you can email me for the name directly. I'm not 3 days post procedure and the swelling is definitely starting to go down . I am still pretty bruised at all the injections points (I can see three on each cheek, plus the sides of my noise and a couple points on one of the temples). I used some dermablend cover up at the suggestion of one of the nurses and it hides things pretty well.
It's still hard to tell what is swelling and what is the radiesse but my face looks so much fuller that I think/hope the final product will be great. I sure couldn't do this (mentally or financially) every 6 months so I hope it lasts. The doctor suggested the next step in a year or so would be fat injections (though he told me I need to gain 5 pounds first).
I agree it was very expensive but I think that was because it was a high-end Manhattan, NYC clinic. I am not sure how many syringes were used but I know it was 7 CCs total in 5 different places. The doctor also used general anesthesia (put me totally under, I don't remember a thing).
