If you are considering rhinoplasty and have small children, I would recommend you wait to have the surgery until they are older if you can. I am obsessively careful to the point of stressing my whole family out and I still managed to bonk my nose pretty badly with my 4 year old. It's just not realistic to expect even the best behaved young children to be predictable or consistently careful enough to ensure that you will be able to safely heal - no matter how careful you are yourself, accidents WILL happen when you are taking care if two small children full time. It's not worth the risk physically, emotionally, financially or time invested in healing. I am dreading having to do this process all over again if my nose is messed up. Ughhhh!!!! Wish I waited.
Hi there!
I can relate to you on pretty much all counts! I too am in my 40s, in a good marriage, have kids and am second guessing why, at this point in my life, am I doing this. Like you, I was always self conscious about my nose, and recently was diagnosed with a deviated septum and suddenly am faced with the opportunity to fix something that always bothered me aesthetically as well. My father is a physician, so he deals with people who have very serious health issues every day, so I felt VERY uncomfortable telling him about getting the aesthetic part of my procedure done, but he really surprised me by wholeheartedly supporting it. He said "go for it and don't look back". It's an opportunity presented to you for a reason. My mom's sentiment was "how exciting"! I have my pre-op this Monday and am very excited about hopefully putting some of my fears and concerns to rest. I requested an extra half hour than they normally allot so I can go over everything I have been worried about over the past few weeks since this has become a reality. My three year old touched my nose last night and said, "Mommy, I like your pretty nose, it's just like mine". Oy!!! It's not, he has a much straighter nose without the breaks or collapsing septum, so I told him that his nose was much nicer than mine and that I wanted my nose to be more like his. How did you address your upcoming rhinoplasty with your kids?
OK, enough about me - I saw your pictures and I bet you will look absolutely gorgeous!!! You are very pretty right now, but can see that you will really look stunning by February! As my sister said to me when I was worrying over whether or not to address my own aesthetic concerns "there's nothing wrong with wanting a nicer nose, just go for it!"
