I want to thank you for your post. I was planning to have this procedure done in July including the eyelift. After reading your comments I plan to cancel. If I do anything I will go to a cosmetic surgeon to have a mini lift and upper blepharoplasty. I might have to pay a little more but I think if your planning to undergo any type of cosmetic procedure you probably don't want skimp on expensive. I firmly believe you get what you pay for at least 95% of the time. I am a nurse. I have worked many years in post operative recovery rooms. So I am not completely unaware of things that can go wrong during a procedure.I recently went to my interview (a couple days ago). When I got home and started thinking about how invasive this procedure really is and the fact that they want to preform it without any type of anesthesia except a local (lidocaine) and a valium acompanied by a tylenol PM. I doesn't sound like a day at the beach to me! This means that most likely there is no anesthesiologist on the premises.I have seen A lot of things happen in the OR and when the s#@t hits the fan, it's the anesthesiologists that intervines. I imagine this is a major savings to the LSL people. They played a DVD that basically had a line of bull a mile long about why they don't use general anesthesia. Let me tell you... I personally want to be completely knocked out for any type of cutting of my flesh. General anesthesia is not even necessary. An anesthesiologist can administer what is known as MAC of TIVA it is usually a mixture of a couple of drugs ie...versed and diprovan. If you've ever had a colonoscopy you were probably done under MAC anesthesia. I also told the physicain who assesed me that I experience adverse reactions to lidocaine that contains epinephrine. It effects my heart. He explained how it was necessary to control bleeding and that many people experience the sensations I had described. Only after I told him that I knew of a woman that had gone into cardiac arrest and died after being administered lidocaine at a dentist office he suggested I get clearance from my medical doctor. I have a really conscientious doc and I doubt he would clear me. After all... why would he want to get involved. If something was to go wrong where would the liabilty lie? I am so glad I looked up your comments. After reading them, I am 100% sure this is something I am at all interested in. I hope you can find a resolution to the difficulties caused by the LSL.
