Thanks ladies! For any gals who come to read this before their surgeries, you should know this situation resolved itself rather quickly. I didn't think to come and update anyone until I was talking to a friend about all the research I did before my surgery. I want to be sure that anyone worried about their SO's reaction should relax. Once I let go and gave him a minute to relax, he turned back into his old self and we are great once again. Plus I can run and play with my kids like never before! I can carry my 4 year old again without paying for it for a week! I love it. :D
You can. I was afraid to touch my incisions though. Everything was numb and foreign. I felt like Frankenstein and it didn't help Halloween came one week post op. Do what makes you comfortable.
So, I'm 3 wks PO and really appreciate everyone's posts. I've got one for you now - anyone have trouble with their SO?
My husband is being very supportive in most ways but it's like they cut off everything he ever found attractive about me. I've had to beg him to touch me at all and now it feels like he holds my hand out of obligation. He used to be unable to walk by me in the hall without touching me. I mentioned feeling unattractive and he uncharacteristically responded with, "you're ok."
Maybe this is common mourning process for men?
