Have you had your pictures done by Dr. Eby's office yet? The total process for me was about 6 months. I went in March of 2012 and had pictures taken and filled out some forms for Dr. Eby's office to submit to my insurance for a pre-authorization. It was denied once. I think it was finally approved in July and my consultation with Dr. Eby was in mid-August. We set my surgery date that day for September 4th, 2012. I knew going into my consultation that I was having surgery, because everything was pre-approved.
I should say that I work a desk job. I don't know type of work you do, but lifting anything over 5 pounds or so is not a good idea. You might feel like you can do it after a week, but don't.
Hi! I still have some tenderness sometimes, but very little swelling. Scars are still visible, obviously. As far as the recovery time, I went back to work two weeks after my surgery, but I could have gone back after one week.
Dr. Eby is going to suggest that you purchase some supplements. One is called Arnica. The other is Bromelain. They are pre-surgery supplements that help with bruising and swelling. The kit is $45, but I highly recommend getting it. The first time I noticed any bruising was when they had yellowed and mostly healed.
Honestly, I had very little pain. I think I took 2 of my pain pills post-op. After that, the pain was manageable with Tylenol.
It has been the best decision I've made in a long time. Good luck to you. You'll like Dr. Eby.
