I've been suffering from dry eye since November, 2009. I was 34 years old and in the middle of research for my grad thesis. I'd noticed that my eyes were burning and feeling like I had sand in them for about two weeks. Then it go so bad that I could read well because my eyes were hurting so badly. I have rosacea. In fact, I was diagnosed as having CREST syndrome when I was 31. My had eyes had never bothered me before Nov. 2009. My doctor tried lacrisert (not sure of the spelling) and every drop available. Nothing lasted more than an hour before I needed to add more drops. In the Spring of 2011, I saw an add in a local paper for IPL for dry eyes. I called and made an appointment that day. Two weeks later, I had my first treatment. I walked out crying... with actual tears in my eyes! It was amazing. I had another treatment one month later. Dr. Toyos suggests that you get 4 treatments, on month apart the first time. We were in the middle of a move so I only had two treatments. When I got to Seattle, I assumed I'd find another doc here who does it. I haven't. My eyes were great for about 9 months. I need another treatment and I'm going back to Chicago soon for another one. I highly suggest giving it a try!
