I am from the US and live in in Ecuador (Quito). I had liposuction done in August and I'm very happy with my results, and I'm still healing! I had some of your concerns with doing it outside the US, but I'm so glad I went through with it. I had originally planned to have local, since I had read how common it was to do it that way in the US. But my doctor here suggested general, and in the end, when the anesthesiologist said that as well, I went with general, despite all my fears.....but it all went FINE. Although it is very painful afterwards! I say do it, just be sure your doctor is associated with the right organization and is properly certified (in Mexico), that's what I did. The only thing I regret is not having MORE fat injected into my hips and butt! You look really curvy in your bottom half, and I'm sure with waist contouring you will look amazing. You won't regret it. Also.....I don't think cost should be everything......but honestly, I probably saved $5,000 by doing it here (Of course I didn't have airfare or hotels or anything since I live here). And I completely agree with you.....I think the plastic surgeons in Latin America are better skilled when it comes to body contouring. I'm not sure why that is....perhaps it is simply that the culture really does appreciate curves, and the doctor will deliver (ie really contouring the waist down). Also, I think they just do more major surgeries, whereas in the US they do a lot of small procedures. Either way, be sure to look at your doctor's before and afters! Good luck......you won't regret doing it! I definitely don't. And don't be afraid of doing it in Mexico.....these surgeons know their stuff here (in Latin America!)
