Hi Irvinemom, Well i have had 12 blood transfusion so far. twice for my Tummy tuck. My doctor was very scared to operate on me with HGO level of 10.2. but it has worked out fine. I am taking Folic acid. you should go and see a hematologist and the reason is .. that i found out recently is that anyone who has beta thalassemia also ends with bad memory and the reason is lack of folic acid. You should take folic acid. that is what my hematologist prescribed me. and it is so true. My memory was so bad. hopefully this will help.
as for the compression garment, I did try wearing my tank top under the binder but it did not help. anywhere the CG touched I have a severe rash... story of my life. My Doc says she has never seen anything like this before or heard of it either... but it is getting better...
thanks byebyebelly, there are no cotton compression garment out there that has the ability of a lycra to stretch. My doc told me not to wear any compression garment. it is a bummer that i cannot even wear my workout shorts as they are also reacting to my skin. My doc wanted me to take steroids but i refused, the side effects out weighs the benefit. Anyways ice is helping a lot and then i just put lotion on. i am still looking for an alternative.
sorry to hear about the mess the doctor made. I also live in Atlanta and went to Dr merisa lawrence. she did my TUmmy tuck and lipo of the thigh and hips. she is an amazing doc. may be you should get an opinion from her as well.
hi jennifer i am post-op 6 days and i do feel better and would feel even better if i have the drains out. thanks for the support i am taking one day at a time..
