I had very minimum swelling from the start. After the first month I really didn't notice any swelling at all. But, I am sure there was because 3-4 months later, my stomach was extremely-extremely flat. Initially, I was upset that the doctor made me keep the draining tubes in about two weeks, but, it was worth it cause I had no swelling that I could see at all. I looked toned and flat right away. I had no problems with my clothes being too tight, they flattered my flat stomach immediately. I did have numbness in the surgical areas for about 18 months, which I read on the internet would happen. The surgical areas will probably never feel the same again, but, I finally got use to it. I wore the compression garments for several months, actually after a month, I brought a body shaper and used it as my compression garment for months. My results have continued to be great, I still have an extremely flat stomach and toned arms and toned upper back. People ask me how often and how long do I lift weights cause I look like I lift weights. I really do very very little weight lifting (3-7 pounds weights). And NO-NO sit ups at all, I do push ups 20-30 push up about 3-4 times a week along with my regular exercise of 35 minutes 2-3x weekly, and I watch my diet to the letter (the letter). I do play tennis 5 days a week (Singles). I ride my bicycle on the beach irregularly. I lost a total of 90 pounds before surgery starting back in 2006 and haven't gained a pound, I weigh everyday. It will be 3 years since surgery this April 25, 2012. I am totally use to my routine, it feels absolutely normal for me.
No, I can not see that I lost any weight from surgery, I did lose 10 pounds from extreme dieting/almost no exercise after surgery. I was off from work for 4 weeks, I could have gone back in 2 weeks, but I figured I could use that time to really put forth a weight lose effort. But I would not say that the lose was due to surgery. I actually weighted 4 lbs more the day after surgery, probably due to the initial fluid build up.I dranked 3-24oz bottle of water daily and ate a lot less food, no sodium during the time I was off, did very minimum exercise because I did not want to mess up the surgery results nor stitches, and I lost 10 pounds, giving me a 90 pounds lose total. I am from the Los Angeles area, total was $12,500.
I had a Tummy Tuck/Arm Lift/Rolls in Back Lift on 4/25/09, I can not really say at this time that I have swelling in my stomach, and it has only been approx. 17 days. My drains, 3 of the four, two from the sides of my upper back and one from my stomach stayed in two weeks, the first one from my stomach was removed after 7 days. I think leaving the drains in, no matter how uncomfortable or tiresome they are, is the reason that I have little or no swelling in the stomach. My arms and back have a little swelling, but everybody say my arms looks skinny. I think the drains are the key. My outcome was great, I love my results.
I agree, maybe you had surgery too soon. From what I have read you should be within 20 lbs of what you should weigh for your height. I had surgery on 4/25/09 for Arm Lift/Tummy Tuck/Back Lift. I was within 18 lbs of my suppose weight after losing over 80 lbs 4 yrs ago from diet control and exercise, and have lost 8 since the surgery by diet control, the results have been better than expected. The drain tubes stayed in 2 weeks, which I did not like, but I think made the results better. You still have a lot of weight to lose and you might have to get a retouch after getting the final weight off cause of having it done too soon. Wish you the best.
I had a tummy tuck and arm lift 10 days ago. I had extremely sagging skin on the lower stomach, back, arms, all over. And eventhough I had extreme stretch marks from one child birth 30 yrs ago, and possibly due to weight gain and lose, I was not concerned with the stretch marks in the least, but they are gone except for a few right at the the hair line where I was stitched. They were all over at first. I am so happy with my pain free surgery results that I can not verbally express. This was the best thing that I have ever done for myself, eventhough I still have 3 of the 4 drains, I feel completely different from this experience. And the stretch marks being gone is a definite plus.
