I read that you may experience more swelling on the left side because that is the side your heart is on, so there is more of a backlog of fluids on that side. I don't recall exactly where I saw it because it was a while ago, but I know that when u get lymphatic massages, they massage in the direction of the heart. The lymphatic massages help a lot and u will feel the fluids moving through your body afterwards, but also be aware of the fact that your inner thighs are usually the last to heal from lipo. Based on my research, you will likely experience the swelling for 2-3 months. It's because the body fills the lipoed areas with fluid a few days after sx as a part of the healing process and it takes a while to remove all of that fluid. Some of the most active lymph nodes are in the groin and thigh area, so they retain a lot more of the fluid and require time to fully remove it all. Unlike the heart, which forces blood throughout the body, the lymphatic system does not have a mechanism to quickly force the fluid out—hence the need for manual drainage in the case of excessive fluid and swelling. My swelling has gone down a lot, but I still have a little residual swelling. For me, the swelling did not become tolerable until at least 3 weeks post-op. I could still see the swelling, but it didn't feel like I was walking around carrying a brick (although it tightened up when I sat for more than 5 min). It became more comfortable after 1 month and feels about 85% normal now at almost 8 weeks. There is still some numbness but it’s getting better also as my nerves regenerate. I know my nerves r starting to heal because of all of the itching that I'm suddenly experiencing all over my body. The numbness will be the last thing to go and can take up to 6 months. It can also take up to a year for your skin to completely shrink, so your body should continue to refine itself as long as u maintain your weight. You may heal faster than I did if u get more massages, as I only did it once. Good luck and don't get discouraged! This whole journey is a process that far exceeds the actual sx date and takes a lot of patience. Something I definitely wasn’t born with, but had no choice to develop after all of this…

Oh sorry. Ms. Erudite was for SXWallex lol. That's her nickname. Now if you'd excuse me, I'm going to go back to eating my yams. Gotta work on those twins. Haha. In Porsche's defense, she really is an airhead.

No I to totally get it. Some surgeons r more skilled than others. And sometimes the line between subpar work and your body's natural reaction to sx is hard to draw. For instance, one side of your body may have been more receptive to the lipo or fat injections than the other. Also, sometimes the sx magnifies abnormalities that were already present but weren't necessarily noticed until after sx. In addition, this forum only represents a small subset of total patients and is subject to selection bias, because people r more willing to write or update reviews if they have good results. I was just presenting other possibilities to consider when trying to determine the validity of someone else's sx and healing progress. In my search for a ps, I definitely read a ton of reviews, looked at pics, looked for malpractice suits, talked directly to the ps, etc. As long as you've done your due diligence in picking a ps, all u can really do in the end is hope for the best because even the best ps is human. Now had my results been grossly subpar rather than just imperfect, I definitely would've made a big ass fuss about it on this site, because l don't have money to burn. I'm not being paid to write a good review, but I also wanted to make sure that my review was somewhat objective and considerate of the fact that nothing is ever going to be perfect. I do think there's some pressure to report only the good, not only because people have developed loyalty to a Dr. but also because everyone else seems to be having such great results. No one wants to be the odd man out. Does this mean that those reporting great results are a exaggerating? No it doesn't. But that's how u made it seem when SXWallex reported how fast she was healing. Or at least that's how it came across via text. U said u didn't mean it that way so now I have no reason to believe u didn't and I truly do wish u the best. We're all here to support eachother.

I totally understand where you're coming from OperationGetFine. I just think your tone came off as a little condescending and wanted to add my input as someone that's currently going through the healing process to give u more perspective (Not that it was any of my business otherwise). Skepticism is always preferable to naivety in my opinion, but the delivery is just as important as the message. The nature of online forums lends itself to deception at every step of the process, so all u can do is assume that someone is telling the truth until u have a concrete reason to believe otherwise. I think that's better than assuming that everyone is lying, because a lot of people on this site are really trying to help others. While there are many people that are unsatisfied with their results, u should also take into consideration whether their expectations were realistic in the first place and remain cognizant of the fact that aftercare is yet another variable that affects results. People aren't necessarily truthful about whether they fully adhered to their doctor's instructions, but are quick to complain about unfavorable results. At the end of the day, everyone will find something wrong with their results, whether they choose to state it or not. Uneven hips, lumps, bumps, etc. all come with the territory of the procedure, because its not an exact science and it's an alteration of our body's natural state of being. It's the risk u take in hopes of a much greater reward... and this is coming from someone that's been whining about her uneven hips since day 1 post-op. In any case, I wish u much success on your journey!
