Hi Megan, it is not one procedure but rather staying on top of changes as they occur. I would call it beauty management. Small procedures for targeted problems as they occur are a lot easier to handle and don't require much down time.
I once met an old surgeon in Paris, who fifteen years ago did fat injections for me, who said that the future of plastic surgery is in beauty management. Of course this doesn't reffer to those who want changes to their natural physiognomy, where scalpel, most of the time is the only way.
Now there is an inherrentconflict in going for advice to specialized surgeons and beauty doctors. They can't advice on procedures they don't perform, often misleading patients, of course not purposely, but out of the circumstances of professional limitations..
There is a need of a new profession, which would help women navigate all the information out there, which is really difficult to grasp, even for professionals. Same procedures carry many different names, most of the time for marketing purposes. Take for example laser treatments; many of the different lasers do the same thing but are marketed to create a brand awareness. In case of laser procedures, it is done in order to keep prices high, hence making it cost prohibitive for many..
Women who have been keeping up their beauty - like me - should do beauty consulting.
I have actually been considering this but I spend alot of time in Costa Rica nowadays.

Take fat injections; for many years it was not an acceptable procedure in the U.S. due to the material being available for free and doctors getting kickbacks for distributing man made injectables.
In my case, I started doing fat replacement procedures fifteen years ago in Paris, France, where the procedure has been available since a very long time. Very small injections were performed as I noticed volume loss in my face. This has allowed me to keep my face plump without drastic changes and no drama.
When I noticed that my jawline had changed and before the skin would have stretched beyond repair from the added fat weight, I had the vaser done to my sawl line in order to take out the accumulated padding and shrink the skin a bit. Of course, because I reacted immediately, the minimally invasive procedure was enough. I had this done three years ago.
Currently, I am in the process of reshaping my forehead. I'm half way through. The procedure requires several visits, two weeks apart for injections and two appointments following the injection in order to make sure the placements were done correctly. Two, three days after the injections, the injected substance is still not attached and so through massage it can be molded to a desirable outcome. I am absolutely fascinated by this procedure. Not too many beauty doctors can do it. It starts with the temple filling -if necessary, following filling just above the eyebrows, behind the eyebrows and between the eyebrows. Filling strategically between the eyebrows opens up the space between it, which due to volume loss to that area allows muscles to contract freely, hence creating the infamous groove(s) between the eyebrows. Doctors love applying botox to this area giving us the stiff look. If we react fast enough there is no need for botox. Volume replacement is the miracle cure here again. But I was told by many beauty docs that injecting in this area is impossible because it will show... Believe me, botox is a much more profitable and quicker to administer procedure. I had that area skillfully filled two months ago and it is a miracle! My face regained the lost, open, clear regard I had in my youth days. By filling above the eyebrows and further up on the forehead my eyebrows lifted, opening the space between the eyelid and eyebrow. My double fold above the lid disappeared. And this is a small miracle as I was told by plastic surgeons that I have skin excess and the only this to address this ptosis is removal of skin. The beauty doctor who is performing this is Colombian. she brought the technique with her to Costa Rica, where I am living half time. She works with a special molding tool. For more pronounced problems, she can fill up to the hairline and onthe skull, under the hair. Those areas don't receive so much movement so it lasts the fill lasts much longer. In addition you can have some botox injected just to immobilize the forehead movement a little to further prolong life of the filled areas.

Somehow I have always had a natural aversion to cutting and removing when it comes to my body. It doesn't seam right.
Than there are all sorts of lasers; to resurface, to slightly tighten, to get rid of wrinkles. Some work, some don't. In deciding on procedures, beware of those who promise unreasonably good results from one procedure. It doesn't exist.
I will wrap it up by saying that the cut and pull method should be a thing of the past for those who start early - in our early thirties. Of course for those with too much damage and loose skin it is too late - for now.
Ah, I almost forgot a very important procedure, which I had done thirteen years ago in Paris, which contributed to my mid face not giving to gravity. Namely, I had the suspension threads inserted in my cheecks, three on each side, which is preventing the cheeks from giving to gravity! It's been thirteen years and it hasn't moved.
Hope this clarifies my position on plastic surgery and the miracle procedures.

Liposuction to the jawl line should be done with vaser, which shrinks the skin. No one ever talks about the importance of wearing post-surgical garments and post lipo treatments, which are more important to the success and beautiful results than the procedure itself...

All this advice makes me uneasy, at best..
I am on the receiving side, not administering all those procedures. But one thing I can say is that doctors are not gods and they don't know it all. Each one will prize the procedure they trained to do. They can all know everything.
    So search and inquire.
If your concern in horizontal lines on your forehead and the vertical damage that occurs between the eyebrows; look for a doctor who fill reshape your forehead, add a layer of volume that will last few years.
I have done that recently and had amazing results. Lines disappeared, my eyebrows went up, the double fold on the eyelid disappeared. I am not sure doctors in the U.S. perform this procedure. It is not a one visit procedure. You need time and patience, you need to go in several times as it needs to be revised and touch-ups done. But it is an amazing procedure!!!!
  • Posted to Is There a Non Surgical Face Lift That Works? on 20 Sep 2012

I am a 50 years old female who has been keeping her face impeccable with fillers, both natural and synthetic since about 15 years. I recently had done an eye lift with a brow lift by reshaping the forehead by adding lost volume. Without cutting, my eyebrows went up, my eyes opened up and the unsightly double fold between the eyebrow and the eyelid disappeared. My forehead has no more wrinkles and is baby smooth.
I do not use botox since three years. What a relief! My face has movement and a natural look.
Few years ago I had noticed a fuller jawline and had that done by vaser lipo, which reshaped it perfectly.
I have done many other procedures, minimally invasive, laser, injections, etc. Have never cut my skin, let alone cut and pull in the old fashion way...
So yes, if we stay on top of changes as they occur, there are miracle procedures!! No cutting necessary!
After 20 years of keeping my face fresh and youthfull I have plenty of experience with what works and what doesn't. maybe even more than a doc. who performs same procedures over and over as he/she is specialized in only few areas/ methodes.
You got to be brave though. When I had the vaser jawline done, I asked few surgeons who use it on other body parts hence have sufficient experience in manipulating the device, if they would conciser performing it on me. I found one who did! Couldn't be happier with the results. You got to do your due diligence on procedures, inform yourself, arm yourself with knowledge. If not anybody will be able to sell you anything they want!!!
And YES, miracle procedures do exist!

Thank you Dr. Steven. I know fat is the best but don't have that option. Which filler would work best in terms of thickness, safety, duration?
