I'm experiencing the similar problems with dry eyes (which I never had a problem before the surgery). During the first 2 weeks, I also couldn't shut my left eye all the way, but now that the swelling has reduced - it closes much better. But I understand what you mean, it is a hassle to deal with eye drops every couple of hours. Plus, the dryness is also making my eyes more sensitive to light.
Very well said. I also had my upper eyelids done 2.5 weeks ago and going through very similar feelings (sometimes I think I look good now, sometimes I think my old look is better).
I agree with you that :
1) people should be informed the swelling is worst at day 2 or 3 before it gets better. Be patient and stay positive! Just be vigilant if you have abnormal side effects.
2) Depending on your expectations of what look you'd like to achieve, it can take up to 1 year to feel satisfied with the results.
My surgeon suggested that I should be able to go back to work 2 weeks post-op, but I'm taking 3 weeks off instead. A decision I'm glad I made. I would not be comfortable to reveal myself to colleagues if I had to go back to work in 2 wks.
I understand what you're going through. I also cannot shut my eyes completely. It's day 7 for me. I also had moments of regret during the first week. Try to stay positive and focus on the end result - which could be 6 months to a year. It may not be perfect right now, just know that as long as you don't experience bad side effects, your eyelids will improve!
