I had Restylane injected into the wrinkles above the upper lip last week. Aside from the bruising, there has been no change AT ALL in the area. So far I feel it has been a waste of money. I plan to contact the doctor. You would think there would be at least some improvement! I wonder if some of the product is inert or just does not work.
My own "leaks" were discovered on mammogram. The "leaks" did not exist at all during explantation and the same implants were returned to original place.
Dr. Minniti's comments were so incredibly honest that they brought me to tears. I am probably going through with the surgery, but it was more than refreshing to read his view on the leaking implants. I am hoping against hope that I am making the right decision. One thing is for sure, I am grateful for doctors like Dr. Minniti! I will report back as to how I did and what was found (or not) after the implants are out. That way, at least others will know and can better gauge their own decisions.
I think you would have gotten an expert answer if you had put your question under "Ask a Doctor. My opinion is that you should go to a dermatologist about the rash. I asked a similar question (but not about the rash, about leaking) and got an excellent answer. The most powerful answer I got was from Dr. Minniti and frankly it is haunting me...It looks like it really is OK to leave the implants alone.

Be aware that the surgery, aside from risks, may be the start of a very long journey throughout your life. The implants may have to be replaced multiple times in your lifetime. If you are fully aware of that and its risks, go ahead. If not, maybe re-evaluate your small breasts. They may not be as bad as you think. I have noticed pictures on this site that show before and after and thinking, "Why did she even do it? She has nice small breasts and never has to worry about complications, leaking, etc. "
It is a very personal decision! You are right to study it from all angles first. In the "old days" we women thought we would get the implants and that would be that. Alas, not so in many cases. Whatever you do, best of luck to you..
