  • Posted to 7 weeks PO and not sure if this is normal?? Any advice? on 31 Jan 2013

I had the same problem, only I found out about 10 days before. I was put on slow Fe iron, which I took 2x per day, with food. I ate something iron rich every 2-3 hours. EVERYTHING I ate was cooked on a cast iron skillet, everything I ate was iron rich... AND I had my damn period! My dr also talked about doing only one procedure & coming back later for the TT... I was SOo depressed. I had a BA 16 years ago with the intent on going back for the TT, but with kids, divorce & life it never happened. I so wanted to do both, so I understand your feelings of frustration and disappointment. How & what I ate seemed to do the trick, I was up to 11.5 the day before my surgery. I was informed that they would do the breast first & if the bleeding was a concern, they would put off the TT. So I didn't know what I'd wake up too... I was able to have both. Good luck to you, I hope this helps.

Oh, I forgot, it took about one week to bring up my levels.

I had the same problem, I doubled on the iron (Slow-Fe) ate prunes, lots of red meat, & cooked everything in the cast iron skillet. It brought mine up to acceptable levels to perform the surgery.. & my pouch is gone!!! Good luck to you!!

Welcome, and the message you will be sending her is that you are important, and taking care of ourselves, physically, emotionally and mentally are all part of that. The funny thing is if your new car was wrecked, you wouldn't make excuses or think it was vain to repair it. Our bodies are what we live in... It's ok to repair it.

So I would agree to listen to your PS and if you haven't done it, get a second or third opinion.... It's your body & you get to live in & with it every day. My PS 17 years ago recommended a full lift with my BA. I chose the 'donut' lift instead. He warned me that I might sag over the implant later. That's exactly what happened. You can see it in my profile pics. My left breast was injured in a car accident (complete contracture) and the right, still soft, but sagging over the implant. I had a full lift with my MM on my right breast and the PS did the vertical incision off to the side towards my armpit instead of straight down, it is practically unnoticeable. You might want to ask about it. I hope this helps. Good luck to you.
