I smoked a little bit in my 20's, but had the tummy tuck at the age of 40. I do not have diabetes. I don't know what caused the necrosis. Maybe when my ob/gyn has the ability to look around she might find a reason. Part of the reason I am having a hysterectomy is because I have a great deal of uterine pain, which could possibly be caused by adhesions from the necrosis. I have heard unsterile instruments and items left inside (like sponges) could cause this, although I have no proof of either one.
