That is pretty bizarre they wouldn't shave the area for you and it is a good idea, for the first appointment, the hair to be present so the person can see the colour/thickness of hair. Also with her suggesting the waxing, it sounds like she is inexperienced and it's best that you moved on. They should give you a refund for the remaining unused treatments. If your hair is a light-medium blonde it may be better to stick with waxing. If you try laser again, make sure the place does test patches first to see if their laser will work for your skin/hair type (some will do this for free). In the end, after finishing the series of laser treatment expect to spend a couple grand depending on the area, pricing and 6-8+ sessions.

I would go for the recommended 6-8 treatment. Sounds like you got an excellent session, but please remember about the hair cycles the technician should have explained to you (laser is only effective in 1 of the 3 hair cycle stages. In theory with optimal settings/timing you would need minimum 3 treatments to be finished, but usually more is needed). Also once the hair has shed you should be somewhat hair-free for a couple months. Then you will notice most of the hair will start to return around month 3 or 4. With each additional treatment, the amount of returning hairs is less and less. Sounds like your on your way to being hair free :-)

You won't see any difference with only 2 laser treatments. A minimum of 3 treatments is needed to see a minor reduction in hair. Rarely can one get 80% reduction with 3 treatments, but the settings need to be maxed out for your skin type and this causes quite a bit of pain and possible undesirable side-effects. You need the recommended 6-8 treatments to see the reduction your looking for.

Unfortunately with reddish hair you probably won't see much reduction. If the clinic has maxed out your settings with the lightsheer and you still don't see a reduction: stop and switch to electrolysis or waxing. With laser the hairs can shed, but that doesn't mean anything permanent is happening. The hair growth may be stunned from the heat/energy, but will return to normal is a couple months. This can happen if the settings are too low for the hair type or if the colour is red, medium blonde, or dark reddish blonde.
